SlipsTips casts his eye over the Bet Builder market ahead of Wolves’ meeting with Manchester United in the Premier League on New Year’s Eve.
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Manchester United (Saturday, 12:30)
Manchester United will set out to make it three Premier League wins in succession when they meet Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Saturday lunchtime.
After a torrid start to the season, Erik ten Hag has brought a real sense of optimism back to Old Trafford, with the Red Devils winning nine of their opening 15 league games of the campaign, the most recent of which brought up one of my recommended bets.
As for the hosts, they will also be feeling better about themselves after Julen Lopetegui enjoyed a dream start to life in the Wolves hosteat by steering his side to a last-gasp 2-1 win at Everton last time out.
The bookies’ odds suggest the new Wolves boss will be dealt a reality check this weekend, with United general 10/11 favourites here, however I’m going to opt for an alternative angle via the Bet Builder market by merging Manchester United to score, Over Three Manchester United Corners and Over Zero Wolves Cards at 4/5 (Bet 365).
Manchester United have scored at least once in 13 of their 15 Premier League assignments this season so far, including each of their last seven road trips, a sample that includes away days at Manchester City and Chelsea.
While Wolves will certainly be buoyed by their Boxing Day triumph over the Toffees, in doing so, the Old Gold did concede a goal for the sixth top-flight game in succession, and I fancy that sequence to continue against a Man United side who are on an upward curve.
Given that history suggests Julen Lopetegui is a manager who is happy to sacrifice flair for success, I’ll also go with a minimum of four Manchester United corners – a line ten Hag’s team have covered in seven of their last eight league games.
With United expected to enjoy the lion’s share of possession, I’ll also back referee Robert Jones to show Wolves at least one card during this contest
The relegation-threatened hosts have averaged 2.19 cards per-game this season, collecting at least one caution in all but two of their 16 top-flight tussles this term to date, not to mention their players should be eager to make an impression given that this will be new manager Lopetegui’s maiden home match.
With all this in mind, coupled with the fact that this bet has landed in four of United’s last five Premier League matches, siding with the same Bet Builder in the Black Country on Saturday stands out at 4/5 (Bet 365).
Recommended Bet
- Over 0 Manchester United Goals
- Over 3 Manchester United Corners
- Over 0 Wolves Cards
- Bet Builder – 4/5 (Bet 365)
