The PGA Tour continues this week with the RSM Classic at the Seaside Course and Plantation Course, Sea Island Resort, Georgia.
The 156 field with the top 65 including ties making the weekend will all be competing for a share of the $8M prize purse with the winner collecting the RSM Classic title and a winner’s cheque for $1.45M.
Taylor Gooch who won this last year won’t be in attendance to defend his title as he has joined some other Tour that I’m sure you all know about.
The Seaside Course will be playing 7,005 yards long this week, it’s a par 70 links layout whereas the Plantation Course is a parkland track, it’s a par 72 and will be playing 7,060 yards.
I’ve already posted my preview for the main event this week over in Dubai for the DP World Championship so be sure to have a look if you have time.
The weather is forecast to be sunny and pleasant throughout with cloudy intervals. Breezes will peak at around 12mph.
This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf & Sky Sports Main Event with live coverage starting at 2.30 pm on Thursday afternoon.
So let’s move on with this week’s RSM Classic betting tips as we look to land the winner for the fourth week running.
Harris English 40/1 EW Bet365
For my first and main selection in Georgia, I’m going to single out Harris English 40/1 EW Bet365. The 33-year-old from Georgia is a native around these parts and not only will he have the home crowd behind him, he actually uses these golf courses for target practice so knows these venues like the back of his hand.
To be quite honest I don’t really have much to go on for Harris English this year, his best performance was T9th at the Fortinet Championship and another worth a mention inside the Top 20 was 19th at the Travelers Championship. English has only played at fourteen events this year as he was hampered with an injury but he has made the cut at all of his four previous events and entered finishing no worse than T40th so he may be coming back into his game right at the end of the year.
Without being disrespectful, this is a much weaker than usual field and Harris English will feel more like he’s in his back garden this weekend and could use this to his advantage as he bags his first title since winning the Sentry Tournament of Champions way back at the start of 2021.
Seamus Power 25/1 EW Betfred
For my next selection at the Sea Side Resort, I’m going to point you all in the direction of a player who started our hat-trick run, Seamus Power 25/1 EW Betfred.
Yes, that’s right, the 35-year-old Irishman from Waterford kick-started our run of three winners in a row when he bagged the Bermuda Championship just over a fortnight ago. I tipped Seamus at 25/1 to handle the conditions in Bermuda better than most and he duly obliged.
It could be more of the same for the Irishman this weekend especially with some links golf to be negotiated. Here’s an interesting fact for the Irishman, check this out. Seamus Power was ranked 434th in the World just at the start of January 2021, now he’s ranked the 30th best player on the planet in just over one year, truly remarkable.
After his victory at Bermuda, he went out and finished T3rd at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba so it’s clear for all to see that Seamus is firing on all cylinders and if I’m honest he could make this look like a walk-in the park. I should really have taken Seamus Power as my main selection as he could be the one who takes our outright winning tally this year to 15 to smash last year’s winning record which stands at 14.
Here hoping that Irish luck prevails as Seamus Power makes it a hat-trick of victories for him and lands the quadruple for us.
Sahith Theegala 45/1 EW BetVictor
For my final tip for this week, I’m going to advise Sahith Theegala 45/1 EW BetVictor.
The 24-year-old kid from California has four Top 20 finishes at his last eight events and although the is yet to win on the PGA Tour he did hit the bar this year when finishing runner-up at the Travelers Championship.
In 2022, Theegala has six finishes inside the Top 10 and if you can tell me a player with more Top 10s in this weaker field then I’m all ears. This kid is going to break on the scene anytime soon, he just needs that maiden PGA victory to get that monkey of his back then many more will follow.
I just have a feeling that Sahith Theegala could finish the year on a high with the best Christmas present ever and all the hard work could pay off this weekend in Georgia.
He’s certainly been knocking on the door on more than a few occasions and this consistently will win him a PGA Title, possibly the RSM Classic this coming Sunday when Sahith Theegala is crowned as the RSM Classic Champ to the delight of his many fans and all of us here as we form an orderly queue to collect for the fourth week in succession.
For my final selection, it’s the customary match bet and for this week’s Nap I’m going to suggest that Irish luck will prevail so I’m sticking with Seamus but this time to beat Brian Harman over 72 holes 1/1 Bet365.
