Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to Aberdeenshire, and I’m backing in-form FC Edinburgh to be too strong for bottom-side Peterhead.

Two clubs at opposite ends of the Scottish League One table meet in Aberdeenshire on Saturday afternoon as rock-bottom Peterhead welcome second-placed FC Edinburgh to Balmoor.
Peterhead’s losing run was extended to four matches last time out, as they lost 0-2 at home to Alloa. It’s been a tough season for Jim Mclnally, with his side having only collected five points all season and already 10 points adrift of automatic safety. The Blue Toon have the worst defence in the Scottish third tier, having shipped 31 goals across their opening 12 league outings this season.
FC Edinburgh bounced back from their late 1-0 defeat at table-toppers Dunfermline by winning 3-1 at home to Airdrieonians. That’s now six wins from their last eight – as well as four wins from their previous five – for Alan Maybury’s men, leaving them in second position and only one point behind Dunfermline. The capital club are the leading scorers in the Scottish third tier, scoring 24 goals across their opening 12 league outings.
Bet of the Day
It’s perhaps an understatement to say that these two teams have had contrasting fortunes so far this season, with Peterhead sitting rock-bottom and FC Edinburgh occupying second spot. Alan Maybury’s visitors have won four of their last five league outings, and they should claim another three points against a Peterhead side that’s collected yet just five points all season.
To go alongside the win, I’m happy to take the visitors to make the net bulge at least twice. The Citizens are the leading scorers in the Scottish third-tier and have netted on multiple occasions in eight of their 12 league tussles this season, and there is a strong chance they’ll bag another double against a Peterhead defence that’s shipped two or more goals in 11/12 of their league fixtures this season.
