Liverpool proved there’s still life in the old dog yet with a fine 1-0 win over champions Manchester City at the weekend but it’ll mean nothing if they don’t follow it up with a win over West Ham tonight.
The Reds have struggle for consistency this season and have failed to win three matches in a row so far. That’s the challenge that lies ahead tonight at Anfield.
David Moyes side have really picked up this month, winning four and drawing the other in October but Anfiled is a ground they don’t enjoy visiting at all. They’ve won just one of their last 49 visits, a 3-0 victory in 2015.
A Liverpool win is 2/5 but it could be worth the risk to back them to be winning at half-time and full-time at 6/5.
Mo Salah has scored more goals against the Hammers than any other side and he’s a man in form at the moment with five in his last four. The Egyptian is 11/10 to net any time tonight.
Chelsea have been flying under the rarad a bit lately but it’s now five wins in a row for Graham Potter including two impressive wins over AC Milan. A trip to Brentford presents a tricky fixture for them tonight however. The Bees have a decent record at home, losing only to Arsenal so far and picking up 10 points from a possible 15.
Key to picking up the three points for the Blues will be keeping Ivan Toney quiet. The England striker moved on to eight for the season with a double on Saturday. But Chelsea have kept four clean sheets in a row and have won sven of their last 10 London Derbies away from home to nil. It’s 2/1 that they add to that record tonight.
Kilmarnock booked their place in the last four of the Premier Sports Cup last night, this evening another six sides compete for a semi-final spot.
Celtic v Motherwell is first up at 6.15. Normally you’d expect Ange Postecoglou to make some changes for a match like this but his squad is already looking a bit stretched, so it could be a similar starting XI to that which hammered Hibs on Saturday. If not, the Hoops should still have enough their locker to get past Well.
Rangers too should navigate a safe passage to Hampden against Dundee. The Dens Park side are fourth in the Championship and have struggled to put a run of wins together. The Gers are struggling to find top gear this season but have been solid at home domestically.
Championship leaders Partick Thistle travel north to Aberdeen but their priorities may lie elsewhere at the moment. The Jags are in with a proper chance of mounting a serious tilt at promotion so could be forgiven for looking ahead to the weekend’s Glasgow Derby against Queen’s Park.
Like Rangers, the Dons have been very good at home and Jim Goodwin will be keen to see his side get to the semis and build upon a good win over Hearts at the weekend.
A Treble on the three favourites in the Premier Sports Cup pays 127/100.
