Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the French Ligue 1 and there’s one fixture in particular that stands out to me for goals.
Stade de Reims vs RC Lens

Lens will look to continue their impressive start to the season, as they travel to the Stade Auguste-Delaune to take on Reims on Sunday afternoon.
After beginning their season with back-to-back defeats away at Marseille and at home to Clermont, Óscar García’s side then secured successive 1-1 draws away at Strasbourg and at home to Lyon. Then in midweek, despite throwing away a two-goal lead, 10-man Reims managed to go on and collect their first three points of the season, as they won 2-4 away at Angers. Les rouges et blancs have managed to find the back of the net in all five of their Ligue 1 fixtures so far this season, scoring on nine occasions. However, Reims are also yet to record a single clean sheet from those opening five league fixtures, with only Brest (15) and Troyes (13) conceding more than their tally of 12.
Despite being pegged back from a two-goal lead themselves in midweek, Lens also went on to claim all three points as they defeated Lorient 5-2 at the atmospheric Stade Bollaert-Delelis. Franck Haise’s visitors have now won four and drawn one of their opening five Ligue 1 fixtures, with them thrashing Monaco 1-4 in their last away match. Coming into matchday six, only reigning champions PSG (21) and Montpellier (15) have found the back of the net on more occasions than the 14 Lens have managed. Les Sang et Or have conceded in 4/5 of their Ligue 1 outings this season, with their only clean sheet coming against bottom side Ajaccio.
Bet of the Day
Lens have made a strong start to their Ligue 1 campaign, collecting 13 points from a possible 15 and they’ll look to collect another three points away at Reims. However, they’ll face a tough test against a Reims side who after losing their opening two matches, come into this unbeaten in their last three.
Óscar García’s hosts have found the back of the net in all five of their league outings this season, and they’ll look to add to the nine goals they’ve scored against a Lens defence who’s only clean sheet so far this season against bottom side Ajaccio. Franck Haise’s visitors have already found the back of the net 14 times in their opening five league fixtures and I expect them also to add to their tally against a Reims defence that’s yet to keep a clean sheet this season. Given both sides records at both ends of the pitch, I’m expecting to see at least three strikes in what should be an entertaining encounter at the Stade Auguste-Delaune on Sunday afternoon.
