Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Scottish Premiership and there’s a side I like the look of at home to collect all three points. To boost the price up, I’ve added in a cards based angle.
Hearts vs St Johnstone
🏴 Premiership
⏰ Sunday 28th August, 15:00
Hearts will look to bounce back from European disappointment on Thursday, as they play host to St Johnstone at Tynecastle Park on Sunday afternoon.
Hearts’ hope of qualifying for the Europa League group-stages were ended on Thursday evening, as they lost 0-1 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate against Swiss champions FC Zürich. Robbie Neilson’s men lost their first league match last time out, as their much-rotated side lost 2-0 at reigning champions Celtic, but they still remain sixth in the table, just two points behind third-placed Aberdeen coming into the weekend. The Jam Tarts have won both of their league encounters in Gorgie this season, defeating both Ross County (2-1) and Dundee United (4-1). Hearts have saw their opponents collect 13 cards in their six league and European fixtures this season, with only Celtic failing to get shown a card on multiple occasions.
St Johnstone’s poor start to the season continued last time out, as they lost 0-1 at home to Aberdeen. Callum Davidson’s men have now lost three of their opening four Premiership matches this season, leaving them in 10th position, only two points off bottom side Dundee United. Since the start of last season, The Saints have won just four of their last 21 on their travels in the league, losing 11 of them (W4-D6-L11). St Johnstone have been shown a card in 20/21 of those fixtures, with them getting carded on multiple occasions in 16 of those fixtures.
Bet of the Day
Hearts will look to bounce back from European disappointment in midweek but they have the perfect fixture at home to a St Johnstone side that struggle on their travels. The Saints have won just two of their last 15 Scottish Premiership matches on the road, losing nine and I don’t fancy them to leave Gorgie with anything today.
The Jambos do come into this having won both home games in the league this season and despite playing on Thursday night, I reckon they’ll collect all three points this afternoon. To boost the price up, I’ve added in Callum Davidson’s visitors to be carded at least twice. The Saints have been shown 14 cards in just four matches this season, whilst Robbie Neilson’s hosts have saw their opponents collect multiple cards in 5/6 of their competitive fixtures this season.
- Hearts to Win & St Johnstone Over 1.5 Cards
