Tynecastle will be bouncing tonight as a full house hopes to see Hearts make it to the group stages of the Europa League for the first time.
The Jambos looked to be well on their way last week when they took the lead from the spot in Switzerland but they were pegged back quickly with FC Zurich scoring two in two minutes to hold out for a 2-1 win. That’s set things up perfectly for huge night in Edinburgh and Hearts will be confident of turning things around.
Robbie Neilson opted to rest some players in their 2-0 defeat at Celtic Park at the weekend but will be firing on all cylinders tonight. The Jam Tarts are 11/8 to get the win and an inviting 9/4 to qualify. It could be a tight affair and it wouldn’t be a surpise to see this go to extra-time. Hearts to win by a single goal is 11/4, they’re 14/1 to qualify after playing 120 minutes and 12/1 to nick it on a penalty shoot-out.
The tie could rest upon who scores first and it’s 5/6 that the home side break the deadlock. Lawrence Shankland was on the spot last week and the Scotland internationalist is 15/8 to score anytime and 5/1 to score first.
Belfast side Linfield could secure an historic place in the group stages of the Europa Conference League tonight. David Healy’s side managed a 2-2 draw in Latvia so it’s all to play for at Windsor Park. A win for the Blues is priced at 2/1 and that looks worth an interest in front of what should be a lively home crowd.
Other teams that look good bets at home in the Conference include Rapid Vienna (4/9) who drew 2-2 with FC Vaduz, the Liechtenstein side who have punched above their weight in Europe this season. The Austrians will be expecting to get the job done at home.
Hapoel Be’er Sheva (3/4) have lost just twice in their last 18 European home matches (W13 D3 L2) and have impressed in qualifying so far this season. They’ve failed to score just once in those 18 matches and have scored five across their two home games in Europe this season. You can check out their recent European record here. A 1-1 draw in Romania last week would have more than acceptable with such a strong home record.
