EDINBURGH and Glasgow collide this weekend in the Premiership with a couple of blockbuster clashes at Easter Road and Celtic Park.
But while it’s a tale of Scotland’s biggest two cities, events on the Continent could have a big bearing on how things pan out.
Rangers head to Easter Road at lunchtime today but they could have one eye on the second leg of their Champions League play-off against Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven.
It’s a similar story for Hearts tomorrow as they travel to Parkhead in the middle of their Europa League crunch with FC Zurich.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have kept clean sheets in their last two league games but they were up against two teams who parked the bus in Kilmarnock and St Johnstone. I’d be surprised if Hibs also sat back today as they have the firepower to cause any team in the Premiership problems.
Despite losing to Livingston last week, Lee Johnson’s men have scored in every league game so far and that makes BTTS a good option today at 20/21 with McBookie. The Ibrox men should still have most of the ball though and I fancy them in the corner handicap, with Rangers -2 priced a tempting 6/5 at BetVictor.
This fixture is often fiery with Ryan Porteous and Alfredo Morelos usually at the heart of the chaos. I’m not sure if the Colombian will start this one but Porteous appeals for a card and that pays 2/1 at Bet365.
Celtic should be too strong for Hearts with the Jambos coming off the back of a trip to Switzerland in midweek. Matt O’Riley let me down when I tipped him to score at Ross County but always looks a goal threat from midfield. He scored when Hearts last came to Celtic Park and is a tempting 3/1 at McBookie for anytime scorer tomorrow.
Dundee United have suffered three traumatic defeats in a row and desperately need to bounce back with a Tannadice win over St Mirren today. Those results have boosted United’s odds to 7/5 at McBookie and I fancy them at that price, given there’s a lot of quality in the squad Jack Ross has assembled.
Both teams to score also stands a chance with United looking vulnerable at the back and it pays 21/20 at William Hill.
Aberdeen let me down by losing to Motherwell last week, although Bojan Miovksi at least brought up one of my scorer bets in the 3-2 defeat.
The Dons now face St Johnstone in a fixture that has been short on goals in the last few seasons. McBookie are offering 5/4 on a one-goal winning margin for either side and that looks the best option. Motherwell will be looking to build on that Pittodrie win when Livingston come calling and I like BTTS at evens with McBookie as neither side has been solid at the back so far.
Ross County host Kilmarnock with both teams seeking a first win. I fancy the half-time draw (15/14, VBet) while the Staggies appeal for most corners (11/10, SkyBet).
