Hungary Could Be Even More Demanding Should Forecast Rain Arrive
Last weekend in the French Grand Prix intense summer heat kept both teams and drivers on their toes. This weekend, in Hungary, it is rain that could produce the greatest challenge. Here are our Hungarian Grand Prix tips for this weekend.
The Hungaroring – a narrow tight and twisty circuit – is a very demanding circuit at the best of times. But predicted rain throughout Saturday’s qualifying and the possibility of some precipitation during Sunday’s race could see the established order shuffled dramatically.
12 months ago, just light rain helped Esteban Ocon to record his first race victory. On Sunday there could be another unlikely winner. If not, a big-priced driver could easily claim a solid result. Who will it be?
Hungarian Grand Prix Tips – Bottas to Return to His Top-10 Ways?
Valtteri Bottas has to be of interest in both the ‘points finish’ and the ‘top-six’ markets. The Finn had an excellent start to the season taking six top-10 finishes from his first seven races. He may have appeared to have gone off the boil since but there have been genuine excuses for his disappointing recent results.
Regardless of recent woes, the Alpha Romeo pilot has finished in the points seven times from 12 races and that makes the 11/10 offered about a top-10 finish a good price. Three top-six and a pair of seventh-placed finishes make the 10/1 about a top-six finish on Sunday an even better bet.

Another Yawning Gap Between the 1-2?
Cars are normally well strung out at this track and a short 4.38km lap usually leads to many cars being lapped. Naturally, the late use of a safety car would bunch the field together and lead to a narrow winning margin.
But as a rule of thumb, damp conditions normally result in big-margin winners and there were 15sec-plus winning margins in 2015, 2018, and 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix. Another 10sec-plus winning margin is 5/4 and it’s a bet we like.

Sainz for Fastest Lap
Finally, at 8/1, the advice is to back Carlos Sainz to claim the fastest lap of the race. The Spaniard has found confidence in recent races. He was very quick in France last time and he has claimed two of the last four fastest lap accolades.
