SlipsTips is back to share a selection from the final round of Scottish League Cup group-stage fixtures on Saturday.
Partick Thistle vs Montrose (Saturday, 15:00)
Partick Thistle will be looking to seal their place in the last-16 of the Premier Sports Cup when they face Montrose at Firhill on Saturday.
Ian McCall’s men are in pole position at the top section with eight points, the most recent of which came courtesy of a 2-0 win over Fraserburgh in midweek.
That means the Jags are one point ahead of second-placed Kilmarnock who will conclude their group stage campaign at home to Stenhousemuir.
Meanwhile, Montrose, have already been eliminated from the competition thanks to two defeats from their first three group games.
As such, Partick Thistle head into their final pool fixtures as 4/5 favourites with Bet 365 and I’m more than happy to back the home team to prevail at that price.
Partick’s ambitions for the season ahead have to be a promotion push, given they’ve assembled a squad which is among the strongest in the second-tier.
What’s more, the men from Maryhill come into this clash in good spirits after accumulating eight points across their opening three Group B assignments, two of which were claimed at newly-promoted Kilmarnock.
While Montrose have displayed a continued ability to punch well above their weight in recent seasons, it’s been a pretty underwhelming League Cup campaign for the Gable Endies thus far.
Back-to-back defeats against Kilmarnock and Stenhousemuir means that Stewart Petrie’s side come into this game with nothing other than pride to play for.
With that in mind, as well as the hosts undoubtedly being in greater need of the points, siding with Partick Thistle at 4/5 (Bet 365) makes obvious appeal.
Recommended Bet
- Partick Thistle to Win – 4/5 (Bet 365)
