Friday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me head to Ireland and I’ve picked out two sides who I fancy to make the net bulge at least twice.
Dundalk vs Finn Harps
🇮🇪 Premier Division
⏰ Friday 22nd July, 19:45
Two sides at opposite ends of the Irish Premier Division table meet at Oriel Park on Friday evening, as third-placed Dundalk host to second from bottom Finn Harps.
Dundalk failed to win for the second successive mate last time out, as they followed up their 1-0 defeat at Drogheda United by drawing 1-1 at Sligo Rovers. Stephen O’Donnell’s side are unbeaten at home this season, winning nine of their 11 fixtures, including each of their last eight. The Railwaymen are top-scorers in the Irish top-flight when playing at home, scoring 23 goals in their 11 fixtures when playing in front of their own supporters.
Finn Harps suffered a late heartbreaking defeat last time out, as they conceded twice on the 80th and 93rd minute to lost 1-2 at home to Derry City. Ollie Horgan’s side have now collected just two points from their last 10 matches and they come into this having lost five and drawn one of their last six on their travels. The Harps have conceded on multiple occasions in nine of their last 10 matches away from home, including in each of their last seven.
Athlone Town vs Galway United
🇮🇪 First Division
⏰ Friday 22nd July, 19:45
Galway United will look to keep pace with league leaders Cork City, as they travel to Lissywollen to take on bottom side Athlone Town.
Athlone Town claimed only their second league victory last time out, as they surprisingly won 1-3 away to fourth-placed Longford. Dermot Lennon’s side have collected just five points from their opening 11 matches at home this season (W1-D2-L8), losing five of their last six. The Town remain the only side in the Irish First Division yet to keep a single clean sheet this season, conceding on multiple occasion in 18 of their opening 22 league fixtures.
After back-to-back home victories against Waterford and Cobh Ramblers, Galway drew 0-0 at Cork City in a battle between the top-two sides. John Caulfield’s side have failed to win each of their last two away matches, but prior to that, they had won eight of their previous nine. The Tribesmen have scored 24 of their 41 goals when playing away from home, scoring on multiple occasions, with 21 of them coming in their six matches against sides 5th in the table and below.
Bet of the Day
Dundalk will look to climb up to second in the table and they should do so against a Finn Harps that have lost eight of their last 10 in the league. Dundalk have scored on multiple occasions in 8/11 of their home fixtures and should bag another brace against a Finn Harps defence that’s conceded two or more goals in nine of their last 10 on the road.
Galway United have failed to win each of their last two away fixtures but should get back to winning ways when they travel to bottom-placed Athlone Town. The Town are yet to keep a clean sheet this season, conceding on multiple occasions in 18 of their 22 fixtures and there’s a strong chance they’ll concede another brace against a Galway side that have scored 21 goals in their six away fixtures against sides 5th in the table and below.
- Dundalk to Score 2+
- Galway United to Score 2+
- Double Pays 6/5 (William Hill)
