You know things aren’t going your way when you tip a team to win both halves, they go in 5-0 up at the break but then fail to score in the second 45.
That was Hibs on Saturday, but they’re worth a second chance at Falkirk tonight as Lee Johnson continues with his rebuild of the Hibees. A 13-minute Christian Doidge hat-trick helped see off Clyde at the weekend and Johnson is expected to give a start to Aiden McGeady and Joe Newell tonight.
The bookies aren’t taking any chances and it’s a surprise to see the visitors as short as 1/6 to win. So Doidge could be a good option to get on the scoresheet again at 11/10 with McBookie. McGeady is also 11/10 to mark his first start with a goal, as is Elias Melkersen, who also scored at the weekend.
Queen’s Park were another side that hit five at the weekend and they’ll fancy another win at ‘home’ to Forfar. Home, for now, is at Stenhousemuir’s Ochilview Park, a good 25 miles from Hampden, so that needs to be factored in when looking ahead to the Spiders’ season, although it should be an improvement on their experience at Firhill last season.
At 13/20 to win doubel them up with Airdrieonians to beat FC Edinburgh (formerly known as Edinbuirgh City). The Diamonds recorded a solid 3-0 win at Cowdenbeath on Saturday and will be gearing up for a tough-looking League One campaign this term after an impressive showing last season.
Livi could be one to avoid tonight with Inverness bouyed after a late winner at Kelty and Dunfermline are too short to back at 2/5 against a Buckie side who held Ross County to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.
In Champions League qualifying Bodo/Glimt should be good enough to grab another win over Faroe Islands side Kalksvik. The Norwegian champs ran out comfortable 3-0 winners last week and at 13/20 should be one for tonight’s shortlist.
As should Sheriff Tiraspol. If their exploits in the group stages last season are anything to go by they should be expecting to get through some of these early qualifying rounds. They were held 0-0 in Mostar last week and are 7/10 to get the win they need to progress to the next round.
