Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me head to Asia and I’ve picked out a match from the Japanese J1 League in which I like the look of for goals.
Cerezo Osaka vs Yokohama F. Marinos
🇯🇵 J1 League
⏰ Sunday 10th July, 11:00
Yokohama F. Marinos will look to maintain their five-point lead at the top of the J1 League table, as they travel to the Yodoko Sakura Stadium to take on fifth-placed Cerezo Osaka.
Despite leading 0-1 and 2-3, Cerezo Osaka had to accept a point away to second-placed Kashima Antlers last time out, as the match ended 3-3 in what was a thrilling encounter. That draw does mean Akio Kogiku’s side have lost just one of their last seven J1 League matches (W4-D2-L1), and come into this having taken 13 points from their last five fixtures on home turf. As well as finding the back of the net in each of their last seven league outings, the cherry blossoms have struck in each of their last five at home, scoring on multiple occasions in four of them. Cerezo have registered just four clean sheets from their opening 20 league fixtures this term, with just one of those coming in-front of their own supporters.
Yokohama F. Marinos made it six wins on-the-spin in the league on Wednesday morning, as they defeated Sanfrecce Hiroshima 3-0, with their second goal on the hour mark bringing up my Bet of the Day. Kevin Muscat’s side have won half of their 10 away games this season (W5-D2-L3), with their 3-5 victory against Shimizu S-Pulse in their last away outing making it three successive away wins. The Marinos have found the back of the net on multiple occasions in 10 of their last 11 J1 League matches, as well as in six of their last seven road trips. The league leaders have kept just two clean sheets in their opening 10 away fixtures, conceding 15 of their 21 goals whilst on their travels.
Bet of the Day
Yokohama F. Marinos are the form team in the J1 League, with them having won each of their last six but face a tough test away to a Cerezo Osaka side that’s won four and drawn one of their last five fixtures on home turf, including a 2-1 victory over reigning champions Kawasaki Frontale in their last home outing. Akio Kogiku’s hosts scored 10 times in their last five home matches, scoring two or more in four of them and will look to trouble a Marinos defence that’s kept just two clean sheets on their travels so far this season. However, Kevin Muscat’s visitors have remarkably found the back of the net on multiple occasions in 10 of their last 11 league fixtures, including in six of their last seven on the road and there’s every chance they’ll bag another brace against a Cerezo side that’s kept a solitary clean sheet at home this season. I’m expecting goals here and given both sides scoring form and their defensive vulnerabilities, I reckon we’ll see at least three strikes with both sides contributing in what should be an end-to-end game.
