As we move on to Super Sunday and day seven of Wimbledon we have the first major scalp at SW19.
The woman’s singles encounter between the world number one Iga Swiatek and Alize Cornet was only supposed to go one way but the 32yrs old from France brought her own script.
Iga Swiatek, the young 21-year-old sensation from Warsaw hasn’t lost a match for over four months, a run which consisted of 32 unbeaten matches but Cornet enjoys the Wimbledon grass and always puts on a show. She did that earlier today to earn a place in the last sixteen, with a comfortable straight-sets victory 6-4, 6-2.
With the hot favourites exit, the woman’s singles are now wide open but I really like the chances of Ons Jabeur at 13/5 SBK.
The 27-year-old from Tunisia and current world number two has a last 16 match-up with Elise Mertens and should breeze into the quarter-finals against the Belgian ranked way up at No32.
Ons Jabeur reached the quarter-final stages last year but I’m going to try and smash another Ace right down the middle so I’ll take the Tunisian as my second Nap of the tournament.
Ons Jabeur to win the woman’s singles at 13/5 Nap SBK.
An exciting match-up that caught my eye on day seven is the game involving British hopeful Cameron Norrie against Tommy Paul. I’m not going to be a crowd-pleaser here but I think that the 13/8 on offer from various firms is only available because everyone’s cheering for the British No1.
In my opinion, this is more of a 50/50 match and the 25-year-old old from New Jersey can silence the crowd on Court 1 with a famous victory and a place in the quarter-finals.
