Scotland have a long and varied history in play-offs. Tomorrow night a blank page awaits the next chapter and there couldn’t be more at stake.
The Scots have been cast as favourites at 13/10 to win but the rest of the world can be forgiven for hoping opponents Ukraine succeed in their quest to make it to Qatar. The visitors are 5/2 to win inside the 90 minutes. It’s a massive game for the players involved, representing their war-torn nation and carrying the hopes and dreams of a country ravaged after Russia’s invasion.
But Scotland must put any sentiment to one side. This is sport. And despite Graeme Souness wanting to see his own country beaten, there’ll be nothing in Steve Clarke’s thoughts other than winning. His side has come a long way since the start of this qualifying campaign and can take one step closer to the finals with a win at Hampden. More on that tomorrow but if you’re looking for an early heads-up check out KevMac’s match preview here.
