There may be a gulf in quality between Liverpool and Man Utd at present but it still remains the biggest fixture in English football and there’ll be no quarter given at Anfield tonight.
The Reds could be on track for a historic quadruple this season and United would love nothing more than to give them a bloody nose, even if it does mean handing an advantage to Manchester City.
But that looks easier said than done for an inconsistent United who have come up short far too often this season. Cristiano Ronaldo bailed them out at the weekend once again but he could be set to miss the match on compassionate leave. 13/2 must be one of the biggest prices United have been in this fixture but it’s hard to argue against those kind of odds especially if Ronaldo doesn’t make it.
You have to go back to over four years for Man United’s last league win against Liverpool, a 2-1 victory back in March 2018, but the Red’s 5-0 thumping of United earlier this season must put the fear of God in to the Old Trafford faithful ahead of their trip along the M62.
A repeat peformance pays 28/1 and there’ll no doubt be a few scoucers having a cheeky fiver on that scoreline. Jurgen Klopp’s men have scored 11 goals in the last three meetings and have scored three or more in four of the last nine meetings but they’re just 11/10 to do so again this evening.
Mo Salah has come under some intense scrutiny recently due to him scoring just once in his previous 12 appearances for club and country but he’s scored seven goals in his past five matches against Manchester United and is 4/6 to rediscover his scoring touch again tonight. Ibrahima Konate could be the man to watch however, he has scored three goals in his last three games for Liverpool and is a whopping 13/2 to make it four from four.
Fulham can clinch a place back in the Premier League with a win over Preston tonight and it feels like it’s been a long time coming. The Cottagers have stuttered their way to the brink of promotion, winning just two of their last six but they’ll surely get over the line against mid-table Preston at Craven Cottage.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see them do it some style and they’re 13/8 to score three or more for a sixteenth time this season.
There’s also the small matter of the Milan Derby in the Coppa Italia tonight, live on Premier Sports. There’s little to separate the two sides at the top of Serie A and they scratched out a 0-0 draw when they met in the first leg at the beginning of March. Tolu is on hand to offer his thoughts on tonight’s clash with a place in the final at stake.
