“Never bet on early kick-offs, teams with a first leg lead, Tottenham Hotspur or….international friendlies!”
My old Grandad knew a thing or two about betting and I do my best to follow his 4 four commandments but it’s going to be difficult to do anything other than the latter tonight!
France v Ivory Coast is probably the stand-out friendly tonight but the eyes are drawn to Andorra at 5/6. It’s not often they get to play a smaller nation (there are only 10 in the world!) but with population of around just 46,000 St Kitts and Nevis is a good 30,000 people shy of the landlocked principality. No idea where you even start with the betting in this one so if there’s any Andorran football experts out there let us know how to tackle this one in the comments section below.
A bit easier to decipher might be the Under 21 matches where Euro 23 qualification is at stake and co-incidentally Andorra’s youngsters are the visitors to the Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth for a Group D match against England. Under Lee Carsley the young Lions sit second in their group, three points behind Czech Republic with two games in hand.
The squad is laden with Premier League talent, with no fewer than 15 players tied to top flight clubs, and should comfortably see off the minnows who have yet to register a goal in the group. At 1/33 to win you’ll need to get creative to find some kind of backable odds so how about England to score two or more first half goals coupled with Andorra under 1 match goal at 21/20.
Scotland’s U21’s could also be worth a patriotic punt at 11/10 at home to Turkey. A win is desperately needed to breath new life in to their campaign in Group I where they sit five points behind Denmark who are second and a whopping 14 points behind a flawless Belgium side who have played two more games.
Scot Gemmill’s side were 15 minutes away from a win in Turkey and could go one better under the lights at Tynecastle.
Leichtenstein’s youngsters have been whipping boys in Group D conceding 41 goals in 7 games. Unfortunately the goal line away to Greece has been set at 6 and Overs pays just 3/4 which is too short. In three away games they’ve conceded 10, 13 and 13 corners so there could be opportunity there. Again though Bet365 aren’t giving anything away with Over 12 corners at evens, instead a little punt on Over 5.5 first half corners at 4/5 looks of most interest.
