Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me is dominated by both the Europa League and the Conference League and there’s one game in particular that I’m keen on for goals.
Crvena zvezda vs Rangers
🇪🇺 Europa League
⏰ Thursday 17th March, 17:45
Rangers travel to Belgrade to take on Crvena zvezda at the Rajko Mitić Stadium looking to seal their place in the quarter-finals. The Scottish champions are in a strong position after winning 3-0 in the first leg last week in Glasgow.
Crvena zvezda bounced back from their defeat in Govan last week, as they came from behind to win away to lowly Metalac GM, a result which saw them go level on points with city-rivals Partizan at the top of the Serbian SuperLiga. Crvena zvezda have an impressive home record, with Dejan Stanković’s side posting a record of W15-D4-L1 in all competitions at the Rajko Mitić Stadium this season, with their sole defeat coming against Danish side Midtjylland. Crvena zvezda have found the back of the net in each of their last 26 matches in the Serbian SuperLiga, scoring 67 goals. Including qualifiers, The Red-Whites have scored in 10/13 of their European matches this season, scoring on 19 occasions.
After victory in the first leg, Rangers set-up a semi-final clash with Celtic in the Scottish Cup, as they comfortably defeated Dundee 0-3 at Dens Park on Sunday. In the league, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have recorded successive 1-0 victories over both St Johnstone and Aberdeen to remain just three points behind bitter-rivals Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership. In the league, Rangers have found the back of the net 28/30 of their fixtures, finding the back of the net on 60 occasions. The Teddy Bears have found the back of the net in each of their last seven European matches, with nine of the 15 goals they’ve scored coming in their last three knockout ties.
Bet of the Day
Rangers come into this second leg as strong favourites to qualify following their 3-0 win at Ibrox last week, but know they still have work to do against a Crvena zvezda side who are notoriously strong on home turf. Dejan Stanković will feel his side were unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet in Govan last week, as they had three goals disallowed, missed a penalty, as well as rattling the underside of the bar. The reigning Serbian champions have found the back of the net in 17/20 of their matches in all competitions at home this season and should get on the scoresheet against a Rangers side that’s conceded in all four of their Europa League matches away from home. As well as scoring three in the first leg, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side scored six in their two legs against Borussia Dortmund, including four in Germany and with the hosts needing to go on the attack, Rangers will have plenty of opportunities on the counter and I reckon they’ll get on the scoresheet here. To boost the price up a bit, I’m happy to add in over 2.5 goals along with both sides scoring in a match that should see plenty of goal-mouth action.
