Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into the Italian Serie A and I like the look of one of leagues form sides to secure a comfortably victory away to the bottom side.
Salernitana vs Sassuolo
🇮🇹 Serie A
⏰ Saturday 12th March, 14:00
Sassuolo will look to keep up their good recent form, as they take on struggling Salernitana at the Stadio Arechi. The hosts are rooted to the foot of the table, 11 points adrift of safety, whilst the visitors are 10th and can leapfrog Hellas Verona with a win.
Salernitana suffered yet another defeat last time out, as they were hammered 5-0 at champions Inter. The Granata have won just one of their last 16 matches in Serie A (W1-D5-L10), as well as failing to win any of their last seven. No side has collected fewer points on home turf in Serie A than Salernitana, with them collecting just seven points out of a possible 39 (W1-D4-L8). Salernitana have kept just a solitary clean sheet from their opening 26 Serie A matches and by a distance, have the worst defensive record in the league, with Davide Nicola’s side conceding 61 times.
After back-to-back wins away at Inter and at home to Fiorentina, Sassuolo made it three wins on the bounce, as they won 1-4 away to relegation-threatened Venezia. Alessio Dionisi’s side have been in good form in recent months, losing just three of their last 16 Serie A matches. Only the current top-five have collected more points on their travels in Serie A than Sassuolo, with the Emilia-Romagna based club taking 22 points from their 14 away matches (W6-D4-L4). The Neroverdi have found the back of the net in 24/28 of their league matches, including in 13/14 away from home. Sassuolo have found the back of the net 49 times this season, with 30 of them coming on their travels, only Milan (32) have scored more.
Bet of the Day
Sassuolo come into winning each of their last three in Serie A, including an eye-catching 0-2 win at San Siro over champions Inter, and will be confident of extending that winning run to four, as they travel to bottom side Salernitana. The hosts have W3-D6-L17 this season, with just one of those wins coming in their last 16. No side have earned fewer points at home in Serie A than Salernitana (7) and given only the current top-five have collected more points on their travels than the Neroverdi, I’m backing Alessio Dionisi’s visitors to come away with all three points. Sassuolo have scored 30 goals away from home this season (2nd highest), scoring on multiple occasions in 10/14 and given Salernitana have the leakiest defence in Serie A, I’m happy to add in Sassuolo to score at least twice alongside an away victory.
- Sassuolo to Win & Over 1.5 Goals
