Just 13 miles separate Kilmarnock from local rivals Ayr United so there’s no love lost between both sets of fans and a Friday night clash, live on TV (BBC Scotland & iPlayer), under the lights in Ayrshire should make for a fascinating spectacle in the Scottish Championship.
Throw in to the mix that Killie are chasing automatic promotion while in-form Ayr have their eyes on a play-off place and we should see two committed sides with more than just local bragging rights to play for.
Kyle Lafferty was an unused sub for Killie last week but could be restored to the starting XI as Derek McInnes seeks a win that would take his side top of the league ahead of Abroath’s visit to Inverness on Saturday. The Northern Irishman is 4/1 to open the scoring with McBookie and 13/10 to add to his five-goal haul in his six Kilmarnock appearances this year.
Killie’s form of just four wins in their last 10 isn’t good enough to be backing them at even money so it might pay to look elsewhere in the markets.
Only two players were booked in the last Ayshire Derby but the two clashes prior to that saw five and seven yellows brandished. Alan Muir is the man in charge and he’s been quite card happy in the Premiership, averaging five per game. Few bookies are offering cards markets on the game but Skybet go 8/11 for four or more.
Ajax hit Cambuur for NINE the last time the clubs met and they could rack up a few in Leeuwarden tonight. The Dutch champions have scored four or more in nine of their 25 Eredivisie matches, while Cambuur have conceded a total of 19 in four matches against Holland’s big three. With PSV breathing down their necks there should be not letting up from Ajax. It’s 1/2 for Ajax to score three or more or 6/5 to hit four.
The reason for Ajax’s Friday night fixture is their Champions League clash wirth Benfica on Tuesday. The Portuguese side are also in action tonight and should have a comfortable evening against promoted side Vizela. They’re a very short price so add them to Ajax for a 4/5 double.
You could do worse than follow Jamie Kennedy’s Acca on Friday. He nailed yet another winning goals bet on Thursday which paid 4.8/1 and landed quite comfortable.
