Fresh off their EFL Cup triumph, Liverpool will be looking to book their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Wednesday night when they welcome fellow Premier League outfit Norwich City to Anfield (20:15 KO).
Quadruple Bid Still Intact
The Reds secured their first trophy of the campaign on Sunday with a thrilling 11-10 penalty shootout victory over Chelsea, but goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who scored from the spot before watching opposing number Kepa blaze over, will not be starting the contest.
Jurgen Klopp confirmed he doesn’t want to put more stress on the 23-year-old after his starring role at Wembley, meaning regular number one Alisson or Spanish stopper Adrian will be in between the sticks on Wednesday night.
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 13 matches across all competitions and they will feel confident of inflicting a fourth defeat on the Canaries this season, having won both league meetings either side of an EFL Cup victory.
Klopp’s men have split nine goals equally across the trio of wins, conceding just once in the process, and a home win with over 2.5 goals in the match at 20/39 looks to be the betting route to go down.
Norwich are rooted to the bottom of the table, five points from safety and having played more games than those around them, and their main focus right now is on attempting to retain their top-flight status.
The Canaries have lost their last three games, conceding nine goals and scoring just once, and they haven’t tasted success at Anfield since a 1-0 victory back in April 1994.
Blues Looking for Quick Response
While there was Wembley joy for Liverpool, it was despair for Chelsea after the shootout loss and they will need to pick themselves up quickly when they travel to Luton Town at 19:15.
The Hatters have won six of their last seven matches across all competitions and that impressive form has helped them climb to sixth in the Championship, seven points off the automatic promotion spots.
Chelsea’s 1-0 loss on Sunday was their first defeat in seven but they will feel confident of getting back to winning ways against a team they defeated 3-1 in the fourth-round stage of last year’s FA Cup.
Thomas Tuchel is expected to make some tweaks to his starting XI and that could present an opportunity to Germany international Timo Werner, who is 9/5 to find the back of the net anytime.
In-Form Duo Meet on the South Coast
In Wednesday’s 19:30 clash, Southampton and West Ham United will be looking to extend their unbeaten streaks when they meet at St Mary’s for a place in the quarter-finals.
The Saints are on a six-game unbeaten run across all competitions and have won their last two matches 2-0, while the Hammers haven’t lost in their previous five outings and edged past Wolves 1-0 at the weekend to boost their top-four hopes.
Goals could be on the agenda at St Mary’s if statistics are anything to go by. Over 2.5 goals have landed in both of Southampton’s FA Cup clashes this season, while the same bet came off in West Ham’s victory over Kidderminster in the last round. That outcome trades at 20/23 for tonight’s game.
