Liverpool and Chelsea contest the first major piece of silverware at Wembley this afternoon and the Blues will be glad the spotlight is on the team on the pitch.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have had a tough month, taking in the Premier League, FA Cup, World Club Championship and Champions League but have come through it just about unscathed. The squad must go to the well once more at Wembley but Liverpool could be a step too far for them.

Liverpool look relentless at the moment and although this tournament is the least important of the trophies they’re chasing they’ll still be all out to win here and if they’re on their A-game they should do so at 5/4.
Celtic and Rangers enjoyed very different fortunes in Europe in midweek and that could have implications for them today and the run-in.

That means his chips are all-in on reclaiming the Premiership title and if they leave Easter Road with anything less than three points then the voices questioning his apparent surrender in the Arctic Circle will grow louder.
So we should expect the Hoops to come out the traps quickly in today’s lunchtime kick-off.
