Even though GWK26 has yet to finish, it is already time to plan for GWK27. That is just how it is this season in the FPL world, and while we all want more time to chew the fat, we must look forward.
Before we do, let’s reflect and gloat on what looks like a terrific GWK26 for those that followed our team.
The Premier League announced more fixture changes late last week, and even though some of the world’s best players decided to play their wildcard, we stuck to our guns, and triple-captained Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian maestro rewarded us with an incredible 84 points, while we have already surpassed 120 points for the week thanks to some other vital contributions from Emmanuel Dennis and Wout Weghorst.
As we explained in GWK21 and GWK22, we advised a Free Hit team due to the uncertainty, while those that kept hold of their chips, now seems the perfect time to use the FH.
For those still new to the game, it allows players the chance to make as many transfers as possible without losing points, but that team lasts for one week only.
With Arsenal and Liverpool not playing this weekend due to the Carabao Cup final, we have picked out the best XI for this week.
Goalkeeper – Nick Pope
Burnley goalkeeper Pope pretty much picks himself this week, with the Clarets playing two matches.
Sean Dyche’s side kept successive clean sheets last week against Brighton and Tottenham, so there is no reason why they cannot do the same when they face Crystal Palace and Leicester City.
Defenders – Connor Roberts, Joao Cancelo, Aymeric Laporte, Jan Bednarek
Roberts gives us a Burnley double-up, but he has come close to scoring in recent weeks and offers players the chance to select a cheap defender. Cancelo and Laporte face Everton, and both have every chance of starting and exccelling against an inconsistent Tofffees team.
Bednarek takes on Norwich, who look a little lost in the final third, and Southampton also look good value for the win at odds of 8/15.
Midfielders – Son Heung-Min, Riyad Mahrez, Bruno Fernandes
Son faces a fragile Leeds defence which has shipped over 30 goals in the last nine Premier League games. With the Spurs midfielder set to run directly through the middle, he could have a field day against Marcelo Bielsa’s troops.
Mahrez looks set to start according to the City forums, and the Algeria international is usually on penalties, which gives him the edge over Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling.
Fernandes grabbed a goal against Leeds, and with the Red Devils facing Watford, it seems like the perfect time to jump on the bandwagon, with the Portugal international 13/10 to score anytime.
Forwards – Harry Kane, Armando Broja, Wout Weghorst
Like Son, Kane seems an automatic pick for those free hitting. The England captain scored two against Manchester City, so you would like to think he could repeat that at Elland Road.
Weghorst grabbed 14 points for us last week and keeps his spot thanks to his double fixture, while Broja’s battle against the Norwich defence is one in which we suspect him to come out on top.
Captain – Wout Weghorst
