With just two points separating the top three in Italy’s Serie A, we could be in for a thrilling title race over the coming months.
The two Milan giants hold the top two positions, with AC a point clear of Inter, while Napoli are third, two points off top spot.
Wins Loom for All Three
Heading into a weekend which sees all three of the contenders play teams in the bottom half, it’s likely that come Monday night – after Napoli have taken on Cagliari – the picture at the top may not have changed significantly. However, if anyone slips up, there’s the ominous presence of Juventus coming up behind in fourth.
Milan go to rock-bottom Salernitana on Saturday evening when they are fully expected to pick up another vital three points. The Rossoneri have bounced back well in recent weeks from their shock home defeat to Spezia last month and two consecutive victories over Inter in the derby and Sampdoria last time out have kept them top of the pile.
Milan Can Dominate Basement Boys
An away win to zero appeals at 27/20 in this, considering Milan have let in just one goal in their last three Serie A games and they beat Salernitana 2-0 in the reverse fixture.
Then, on Sunday, Inter are in action when they host Sassuolo, who are down in 12th place. I Nerazzurri produced some fine moments in their 2-0 Champions League defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday and had the Reds on the ropes at the start of the second half in particular. The fact they ended up going down 2-0 will be a major disappointment for Simone Inzaghi, but he must quickly forget that damaging European defeat and focus on the Scudetto race again.
Inconsistent Inter to Secure Victory Too
Inter have been inconsistent of late in the league, winning just two of their last five games, but they should have enough to land an important victory this weekend to keep the pressure on their city rivals. Take an Inter win by a two-goal margin, on offer at 9/4, for a bit more value.
On Monday, Napoli travel to relegation-threatened Cagliari and, again, this should be a comfortable win for the title contenders. Napoli have been in rock-solid form of late, winning three of their last four, while the only slip-up – if it can be called that – was a 1-1 draw with Inter last weekend.
Goals on Cards in Cagliari
Cagliari have been putting up a better fight of things in recent weeks, impressively winning away at Atalanta and drawing with Fiorentina and Empoli in their last three games, so backing a Napoli win with both teams to score – available at 31/20 – may well be the way to go.
