Just five open races at Harlow tonight but there are some smart types on show. The biggest name is March On Henry who is yet to taste defeat in eight starts at the track for trainer Jamie Kingsley.
Henry’s Crown to Remain Firmly in Place
It’s hard to argue that March On Henry isn’t the current King of Harlow given his long unbeaten run at the track for Jamie Kingsley. He was beaten at Monmore on Saturday but the return here can see him in a better light.
The 19.24 is a tough enough contest on paper with Henry flanked by a pair who are both capable of putting up similar times to him. They lack his consistency, however, and that can prove the difference with Henry far more likely to run his race.
Kingsley to Double up With Barry
It was an impressive run over 592m here just after Christmas for Droopys Barry, dipping under the 38-second barrier and scoring by eight lengths for Kingsley. That put him down as a stayer to follow.
His subsequent runs then have proven to be a little disappointing in the wake of his win here, another who was turned over at Monmore at the weekend. Like his kennelmate, he will relish the return to this track and can get back on the winning trail at 20.43.
Society to Hit the Front Where It Matters
Kevin Proctor had a couple of open winners last Wednesday and can be on target again this week with Front Society in the 20.03. She was one of those, staying on too powerfully for her rivals over 415m.
She is over the same trip tonight and the result should be the same. Her main rival is a similarly strong runner to her but the selection has the better early speed and can gain first run.
Newman Looks the Top Dog
Ballymac Newman (no relation) has done well since dropped to the 238m sprint trip at this track by Paul Clarke. They have only been graded affairs that he has been successful in but this doesn’t look the strongest contest.
Things went wrong for him in a far deeper open last week, a missed break put him on the back foot, seeing him find trouble at the first bend. A better start tonight can see him home in front at 19.07.
Broadway Looks a Sweet Bitch to Follow
Seen just once in race action so far, Broadway Sugar is an interesting young pup to follow. She was smashed up at the opening bend on her Towcester debut but had paced up well in a decent field.
Her trials here again show that she has plenty of pace as well as being capable of trapping out better than she has here so far. She will need to be on her toes to avoid those outside her moving left but she might be worth taking a chance on for Sean White at 18.48.
