A basement battle is the offering from the Premier League tonight and for Watford and Norwich this could be a real six-pointer.
Occupying 17th and 18th in the table respectively, both sides look like one of four who will battle it out to avoid the drop between now and the end of the season.
After holding out for a 2-1 win over Everton on Saturday, a win for Norwich tonight and the Canaries’ fans might just start to believe that the great escape is possible. Watford will also be aiming to build upon winning their first point in seven games against fellow strugglers Newcastle at the weekend.
In trying to decipher the stats ahead of this one there’s not a lot to separate the sides. The Hornets are as bad at home (just seven points from 30) as Norwich are away (5 points from 30). Both sides went six defeats in a row prior to last weekend too.
But where Watford hold a significant advantage over their visitors is their ability to score goals. Claudio Ranieri’s side have netted 23 times in 19 games, finding the target in 11 of those. But Dean Smith’s men have scored just 10 in 21 and have drawn blank in a massive 14 of those.
Waford have found the net in eight of their last nine and that firepower could be the difference. Watford look worth backing on that basis at 1/1 with Bet365.
In Scotland, Rangers should rack up a comfortable win over League Two Stirling Albion. There could hardly be a bigger gap between the sides and even the 50/1 on the minnows to win doesn’t look big enough!
It’s so difficult to find an angle on the game so a low-value BetBuilder of Rangers HT/FT + Rangers to score Over 2 + Stirling to score Under 1 at 4/6 looks pretty safe.
