Derek McInnes made a winning start as Kilmarnock boss last week with a 2-0 win at Queen of the South and can make it two wins from two at Firhill tonight.
Kilmarnock boast the best away record in the Championship having won seven of their 11 matches on the road. But they’ll need to overcome a hard-to-beat Partick thistle side that have only lost one of their last 12 outings.
At one stage the Jags were clear top scorers in the division but the goals have dried up for them of late. they’ve scored just five in their last six. However they’re not conceding many either, losing just seven goals in their last 14. As for Killie, their 11 away games have seen just 21 goals, and overall their matches have the lowest tally in the league a just 2.00 goals per game.
So it looks set up for a low-scoring affair and one that Killie might just edge.
One of English football’s strangest rivalries takes place on the south coast tonight beween Brighton and Crystal Palace. The rivalry apparently dates back to the 1976/77 season when the two sides faced each other five times and there was some controversy over a disallowed goal and missed penalty.
Both sides are relaively comfortable in mid-table, in fact Brighton can move just one point behind Manchester United and in to 7th place with a win.
Palace have won just once away from home, amazingly a 2-0 win at Manchester City, but have won on their last two visits to Brighton.
The Seagulls however have lost just one of their last eight so will go in to the game in good shape and should benefit from Palace being without the influential Wilfried Zaha, Jordan Ayew and Cheikhou Kouyate who are on international duty. A home win is 21/20.
