Calvin “The Boston Finisher” Kattar (22-5-0) fights Giga “Ninja” Chikadze (14-2-0) in a Featherweight bout at UFC Vegas 46 on Saturday night at the UFC Apex facility in Enterprise, Nevada. Keep scrolling on for preview and Kattar v Chikadze betting odds.
Kattar v Chikadze Betting Odds & Big Fight Preview
This will be the UFC’s first card of 2022, and the fight between Kattar and Chikadze is the headline bout, with both seeking the win to put them in the picture for a potential shot at the title at 145lbs.
As things stand, Kattar is No. 5 in the Featherweight rankings, with Chikadze at No. 8. The current featherweight champion is Alexander Volkanovski.
Calvin Kattar
It’s almost exactly a year since the 33-year-old Kattar was last in action, in a fight in which he lost by unanimous decision to Max Holloway. The Boston native absorbed 445 significant strikes in that fight, and his head coach, Tyson Chartier, said they wanted him to take a full year off after the loss.
Kattar lands an average of 5.07 significant strikes per minute but, largely as a result of that devastating loss to Holloway, he also absorbs 8.16.
Giga Chikadze
The 33-year-old Chikadze is on a nine-fight winning streak, with his last victory coming via a 3rd round KO against Edson Barboza in August last year. That was the biggest win of the Georgian fighter’s career to date. Prior to Barboza, he also knocked out the dangerous Cub Swanson.
Chikadze averages 3.76 significant strikes per minute, while absorbing just 2.69.
Kattar v Chikadze Betting Odds – Who will win?
There have to be doubts as to whether or not Kattar can make a successful return to the octagon after such a heavy loss, although he deserves credit for taking the fight the distance against Holloway under the circumstances.
The main question mark with Chikadze is whether or not he has the gas should the bout go beyond two or three rounds. He has had a tendency to tire in previous fights and has yet to go beyond three rounds in his MMA career.
The Kattar v Chikadze betting odds with the online betting giant, bet365*, has Calvin Kattar at best odds of 9/4 (3.25) to win, with Giga Chikadze the favourite at odds of 2/5 (1.40) with Betfair.
These are two excellent strikers, but the momentum is clearly with Chikadze at the present time and that could be significant.
Katlyn Chookagian vs Jennifer Maia Betting Odds
Also on the card is a Women’s Flyweight bout between Katlyn “Blonde Fighter” Chookagian (16-4-0) and Jennifer Maia (19-7-1).
This is a bout between two former strawweight championship contenders, both of whom have aspirations of taking on champion Valentina Shevchenko again in 2022, having both lost to her previously.
Chookagian and Maia have also fought each other previously, with the former prevailing back in 2019. Chookagian is primarily a striker and she looks a justified favorite against a fighter who lacks consistency in the UFC.
The Fight Result odds with Bovada sees Chookagian on offer at 4/7 (1.57) with bet365*, with Maia at 6/4 (2.50) with the same firm.
