Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on the lower leagues in England. I’ve combined my best two selections to give us a nice odds against double.
Forest Green vs Colchester United
🏴 League 2
⏰ Tuesday 11th January, 19:45
League 2 leaders Forest Green will look to collect another three points, as they host Colchester at The New Lawn. The hosts currently have a seven point lead at the top and a have a game in hand over the three sides below them, whilst the visitors are 22nd, just three points above the relegation zone.
Forest Green drew 0-0 with playoff chasing Exeter last time out to extend their unbeaten run in League 2 to 11 matches. As well as winning five of their last seven, Rob Edwards side have four of their last five at home, scoring nine times and conceding just once. Rovers have a fantastic record against sides in the bottom half of the table, with them unbeaten in all 12 matches, winning 10 of them. Not only are Forest Green the league’s top scorers, they also possess the leagues second best defence.
Colchester come into this after suffering back to back defeats away to both Walsall and Crawley. Hayden Mullins’s side are winless in their last four in League 2 and have won just two of their last 10, with both of those victories coming at home. The U’s have been struggling on the road in recent months, with them failing to win any of their last seven. In fact, they’ve lost five of their last six on their travels, conceding 12 goals and scoring just once.
Kidderminster Harriers vs Farsley Celtic
🏴 National League North
⏰ Tuesday 11th January, 19:45
Kidderminster will come into this on a high after knocking Championship Reading out of the FA Cup on Saturday, but their attention must come back to the league, as they host lowly Farsley Celtic at Aggborough.
Kidderminster come into this in 5th, but they have at least three games in hand over the sides above them in the league. Russel Penn’s side are actually in good form in the league, with his side winning six of their last eight, drawing the other two. That includes them winning their last three at home, with the Harriers scoring 12 goals in those victories. Kidderminster are unbeaten against bottom half sides so far this season winning 6/7, including all four at home.
Farsley Celtic come into this inside the relegation zone, below Guisley in 20th on goal difference. Neil Ross’s side come into this after being thumped 0-6 at home to Darlington, meaning it’s now 14 goals conceded in their last four matches. In fact, Farsley Celtic have lost six of their last nine in the league, winning just once. The Celt Army haven’t won on the road since the opening game of the season, losing seven of their last eight, conceding 23 goals and scoring just three.
Bet of the Day
Forest Green come into this seven points clear at the top of League 2 and Rob Edwards side will look to collect another three points at home to a struggling Colchester side. Rovers come into this unbeaten in their last 11 in the league and have won four of their last five at The New Lawn and I’m backing them to defeat a Colchester side that’s lost five of their last six away from home. Russel Penn’s Kidderminster Harriers produced one of the biggest shocks in the FA Cup at the weekend, knocking out Championship Reading, but now they turn their attention back to their promotion push. The Harriers are unbeaten in their last eight in the National league North, winning six and I’m backing them to collect all three points at home to a poor Farsley Celtic side that’s won just one of their last nine in the league, with The Celt Army also losing seven of their last eight away.
- Forest Green to Win
- Kidderminster Harriers to Win
- Double Pays 11/10 (Betway/SBK/William Hill)
