There’s three games remaining in the United Rugby Championship this weekend with two of those encounters seeing Scottish teams hosting Welsh visitors.
Both Edinburgh and Glasgow Warriors have made positive starts to the season and both teams could be celebrating come Saturday night.
Blair’s Men to Give Cardiff the Blues
It has been a long time since Edinburgh took the field but they will be hoping to build on a win over Saracens in the European Challenge Cup when they welcome Cardiff to the Scottish capital.
Head coach Mike Blair saw his side earn a 21-18 win on the road at Sarries back on December 11 and will have been frustrated to see their 1872 Cup games against Glasgow postponed over the festive period.
Edinburgh will look to take that frustration out on a Cardiff side that head to DAM Health Stadium sitting in 10th place in the United Rugby Championship standings.
Building on the work done by his predecessor Richard Cockerill, Blair has Edinburgh playing a quick and physical brand of rugby.
Look out for the likes of Darcy Graham on the wing and fellow Scotland international Blair Kinghorn making runs from full-back.
Edinburgh’s grunt in the forwards should also see them over the line, with British & Irish Lions star Hamish Watson a constant threat with or without the ball.
With five wins from their first seven games of the league campaign, Edinburgh are 25/28 to win with a -9.5 handicap against Cardiff.
Warriors to Show Further Signs of Progress
Glasgow head coach Danny Wilson feels his side are in a better place as they prepare to welcome Ospreys to Scotstoun this weekend.
The Warriors appear to have come through the worst of their recent Covid outbreak and should be ready to name a strong side to take on Ospreys.
Scrum-half Ali Price continues to improve having enjoyed a positive individual tour with the Lions in South Africa last summer.
Expect Price to dictate the play and keep Ospreys on their toes around the fringes of the breakdown.
Glasgow would leapfrog fourth-place Ospreys with a victory on Saturday night, and the Warriors are 25/28 with a -7.5 handicap to get the win.
Munster to Keep up Stellar Home Form
Munster will be determined to make it six wins on the bounce at Thomond Park when they take on Ulster in Saturday’s other game from the URC.
Keep an eye out for veteran winger Simon Zebo on the wing for the hosts. Back in the Ireland frame and pushing to feature in the upcoming Six Nations Championship, Zebo will be looking to add to his impressive try tally for his province.
These two sides have produced some intriguing games over recent campaigns, with the home team coming out on top in all of the last six meetings.
With that trend in mind, Munster are available at 10/21 to pick up the win on Saturday, while the men in red are 50/59 to win with a -4.5 handicap.
