IT’S not quite last chance saloon for Chelsea and Liverpool today but neither can afford to fall any further behind a relentless Manchester City.
The defending champions took it to the wire against 10-man Arsenal yesterday and came up trumps with an injury-time winner to move 11 points ahead of Chelsea and 12 ahead of Liverpool.
So it’s all on the line for Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp’s sides at Stamford Bridge this afternoon. The latter won’t be in attendance however, the latest member of the club’s staff to test positive.
His German counterpart could have done without the pre-match distraction from his star striker. Rumour has it that Romelu Lukaku could be dropped after he publicly voiced his frustration with life at Chelsea under Tuchel. That could swing things in Liverpool’s favour and make the 17/10 on the away win quite appealing.
Elsewhere in the Premier League there’s not much standing out in the other matches.
Leeds Utd square up with fellow strugglers Burnley off the back of a tough run of games against Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City that’s seen them concede 14 goals. They’ve missed Patrick Bamford at various points this season and the hitman could be ruled out once more. The visitors have yet to win away from home but Leeds, who have only won twice at Elland Rd look too short at 10/11 and the value might lie with the Clarets at 14/5 to win or 4/5 on the Double Chance market.
QPR could also be value at 9/5 in the Championship when they visit Birmingham. Rangers have won three and drawn the other of their last four road trips and could climb into the top four if they win their games in hand.
In Scotland Cove Rangers are a rare, backable price at 3/4 away to Peterhead in League One while runaway leaders of League Two, Kelty Hearts could rack up a few goals against bottom side Cowdenbeath. Kevin Thomson’s side will be smarting after a shock 5-1 defeat to Annan and the Blue Brazil could bear the brunt. 1/4 to win, Kelty are 11/10 to score Over 2.5 goals.
