Megan Looks a Pup on the Up
Afan Megan has been far from disgraced in her two races so far, pitched straight into open class company over two bends, she has shaped better than her double-figure prices suggest she should’ve.
She has the early gears to lead up the 19.07 now stepped up to 480m for the first time and it wouldn’t take much of an improvement on her trial times to land this for Kim Billingham.
Fereday to Land the Six-Bend Contest
It’s a short run to the bend at Monmore over the 630m trip. Lots of early pace on offer in the 21.02 where Moorstown Timmy has the prime berth right on the inside for Christopher Fereday.
He has the early gears to take advantage of the red jacket. Holding off his main rivals into the turn and forcing them to go around him should allow him to build up enough of a lead to hold off the stronger runners.
Tommy to Fly High in the Sky
Fereday can double up on the card courtesy of Tommys Sky at 20.03. She tends to need some luck in running as she only really kicks in the turbo from halfway, needing the gaps to open late for her.
There is the occasional decent break from her and one is due soon enough as she has been missing the up of late. She won in a slick 28.69 in this grade back in October, a time that would be hard to stop if repeated.
Landy to Chase Them Down
Another who finishes his races off powerfully is Chasing Landy. He was behind the re-opposing trap 2 last week but things didn’t really fall right for Stuart Buckland’s charge.
He got shuffled wide at the opening turn and that was enough to see him on the back foot as the race began to take shape down the far side. That broke a string of wins in A1 grade having landed five on the bounce prior to that. He can return to winning ways at 20.23.
Hacienda to Double up for Buckland
Noduff Hacienda can notch up a quick double for Buckland in the 20.43. This is his last run as a puppy but still looks open to further improvement in early 2022.
He struggled when first racing back in October but the penny has dropped of late. A pair of previous runs in this A1 grade didn’t yield much but he arrives in better form this time and can make the breakthrough.
