A full pre-Christmas schedule of Ligue 1 fixtures will take place on Wednesday evening with PSG looking to further extend their advantage at the top of the table.
After the disappointment of losing their grip on the title last season, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are firmly in control of the Ligue 1 standings this time around.
They are 13 points ahead of nearest rivals Marseille, while third-place Rennes are a point further back.
Last season’s title winners Lille have struggled to live up to their exploits of 2020-21 and they sit 11th in the table despite a recent improvement.
At the bottom, Saint Etienne are struggling, with Lorient and Metz making up the rest of the relegation zone.
PSG Far Too Strong for Lorient
You almost expect PSG to win these days, given they have triumphed in 14 of their 18 Ligue 1 matches so far this season.
Their only defeat came at the hands of third-place Rennes and they have been unbeaten in nine matches since then.
Goalscoring has been part of that success with 38 goals netted in 18 matches.
However, they have shown some sloppiness at the back, keeping clean sheets in only two of their previous seven league games.
Lorient are second bottom in the standings, although they can take some heart from the fact that all three of their wins this season have come at home.
However, PSG will be far too strong for their struggling opponents and they can be backed to win 3-0 at 6/1.
Little to Separate Monaco and Rennes
Rennes are having another good season domestically and are looking well placed for a stab at Champions League football.
They sit third in the standings, a point above Nice in fourth, with Montpellier also lurking within striking distance in fifth.
Bruno Genesio has seen his side lose each of their last two home games, but they are unbeaten on their travels since mid-September and recently came away from bottom side Saint Etienne with a 5-0 thumping.
Like Rennes, Monaco have had a European campaign to contend with and find themselves in eighth.
Their last match saw them go down 2-0 at PSG thanks to two strikes from Kylian Mbappe, but prior to that, they had gone on a five-match unbeaten run.
Monaco are unbeaten at home since failing to win their first three and a draw can be backed at 5/2.
Marseille Set to Topple Reims
Second-place Marseille are in a decent period of form having lost only one of their last nine Ligue 1 games.
That defeat did come at home to Brest two weeks ago as Jorge Sampaoli’s men look to try and improve their home form.
They have won only two of their six clashes at the Stade Velodrome which might be a concern.
However, Reims have won only two of their last nine away games and sit 14th in the table.
Marseille should prove too strong in this one and can be backed to win by a one-goal margin at 37/20.
