Scottish Football expert Mark Walker brings us his weekly trio of tips from the SPFL
Dumbarton v Peterhead
PETERHEAD can add to the doom and gloom surrounding Dumbarton by winning at The Rock.
The Sons have nosedived in form recently after a really decent start to the season and have failed to win a home league game since September.
Their only success there was a Scottish Cup win over Sauchie Juniors and even then, they had to come back from behind to do it.
They’ve lost seven of their last nine league games and appear to be in disarray.
In contrast, Scottish football’s longest-serving manager Jim McInally has his Blue Toon side ticking along nicely.
They recently beat high-flying Queen’s Park at home, although were annoyed after tossing away a two-goal lead at Clyde the other week.
They can increase the gap between themselves and Dumbarton to four points with a win and 6/4 is a nice price for them to do so.
Motherwell v St Johnstone
MOTHERWELL look too big at 13/10 to add to St Johnstone’s woes.
The Saints had a tricky and tiring game at Ibrox in midweek, which was hardly the ideal preparation for a trip to Lanarkshire.
They have had zero luck recently as they showed last week when they conceded a late goal to Aberdeen which was clearly handball.
But they can’t buy a goal or a win at the moment and have been struggling for personnel, with Chris Kane the latest to be unavailable.
They are in a relegation fight all right and it could get even worse if Motherwell play to their potential at Fir Park.
Stirling Albion v Annan Athletic
ANNAN ATHLETIC have been going great guns recently in League Two and look a fair price at 7/4 to win at struggling Stirling Albion.
The managerless Binos have gone completely off the rails recently despite having a squad packed full of good players for this level like Dale Carrick. Manager Kevin Rutkiewicz quit in controversial fashion and they’ve now gone and lost their last five games in the league.
They haven’t won a league game since October and there looks to be something badly wrong in the club.
In contrast, the Galabankies have won their last three games in all competitions and thumped Elgin City 4-1 last week. They have lost just once in their last eight games and yet are 2/1 outsiders to win at Forthbank.
