Stephen Curry stole the headlines on Tuesday night as he made history on the way to helping the Golden State Warriors beat the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
Teams have nearly completed 30 games in the 2021/22 season, and Curry’s record-breaking night is one of the highlights of the new campaign.
The Warriors lead the way in the Western Conference, while the Brooklyn Nets look the team to beat in the East.
Curry and Warriors Look Back to Their Best
The Warriors failed to shine 12 months ago, eventually finishing 9th in the Western Conference.
Stephen Kerr’s side missed out on the playoffs for a second year running, but it looks like they mean business this time around.
Tuesday’s 105-96 victory over the Knicks at Madison Square Garden means the Warriors are now 23-5 for the season, but the night belonged to Curry.
The Warriors, 6/1 to win the NBA Championship, helped him celebrate as he broke the league’s three-point record. Curry made five three-pointers on the night to surpass the great Ray Allen’s tally
Golden State cannot take their foot off the gas, though, with second-placed Phoenix Suns breathing down their neck thanks to a 111-107 overtime win over the Portland Trail Blazers.
Nets Doing It the Hard Way
As we said earlier, the Brooklyn Nets are leading the way in the Eastern Conference, but they are having to compete without several of their best players.
The Nets, 12/5 to win the NBA Championship, needed overtime as they beat the Toronto Raptors 131-129 on Tuesday.
Kevin Durant scored 34 points on the night, but the Nets were without seven players due to a Covid-19 outbreak.
James Harden is one of those watching on from home, and the league could soon find its schedule disrupted.
Two Chicago Bulls games were postponed earlier this week, and the NBA are hoping to keep the outbreak under control ahead of the Christmas period.
Despite the outbreak, there are 11 games scheduled for Wednesday evening, with the likes of the Houston Rockets, Miami Heat and Sacramento Kings all in action.
With the Bulls not playing for the next few days, the Milwaukee Bucks will get the chance to climb above them so long as they beat the Indiana Pacers, with punters able to back them to do so at 20/21.
The New Orleans Pelicans sit bottom of the Western Conference after eight wins from their 29 matches, but they can climb above Oklahoma City Thunder if they record a victory at the Paycom Center.
The Pelicans are 4/5 to record their ninth success of the season, while Orlando Magic are 29/10 to register their sixth win of the campaign at home to Atlanta Hawks.
