After Juventus’ grip on the Serie A title was broken by Inter Milan last year, the Italian top flight is wide open this season.
The top four of Milan, Inter, Napoli and Atalanta are separated by just four points, with Juve, Fiorentina, Roma and Lazio hot on their tails.
Most of the big guns have avoided each other this weekend, but there are still a number of intriguing matchups in the most competitive Serie A renewal in many years.
Juve to Dominate in Venice
When Venezia returned to the top flight after 19 years this season, there would have been no bigger game on the minds of their fans than hosting Juventus.
In Serie D just five years ago, Venezia have enjoyed a rapid rise through the divisions and have relished this return to the big time.
The newly-promoted side have managed to acquit themselves well in the early going and are five points clear of the drop. However, Juve have managed to put away teams around them fairly comfortably in recent weeks and should be able to do similarly here.
Both teams have failed to score in Juve’s last seven games and 1/1 about the Bianconeri to win to nil may be of appeal.
La Dea Can Bounce Back
Five league wins in a row, including over Napoli and Juventus, have propelled Atalanta back into the title race after a stuttering start to their campaign.
The Black and Blues will have to shake off the disappointment of their midweek defeat to Villarreal but should be able to get the better of Verona, who have won just two of their last five games.
Atalanta are 10/11 to get the win and this might prove the perfect fixture.
Expect Goals in Emilia-Romagna
Sassuolo have finished eighth in back-to-back Serie A seasons but have struggled to go the early gallop this time around, perhaps struggling after the loss of highly-rated manager Roberto De Zerbi.
Lazio had a strong start to the year, including wins over Inter and Roma, before comprehensive defeats at the hands of Juventus and Napoli recently set them back.
Maurizio Sarri’s men will be without Sergej Milinkovic-Savic after he was sent off last week.
There should be goals in this encounter, Sassuolo’s last 10 games have all gone over 2.5 and an interest may be taken in over 3.5 at 27/20.
Abraham to Inspire Roma?
Jose Mourinho has found life back in Serie A a struggle and has already hit out at the press, with his side losing seven of their first 16 games after back-to-back defeats at the hands of Bologna and Inter, respectively.
The Giallorossi bounced back with a win in the Conference League on Thursday and now face a Spezia side who are two points from the drop zone.
Tammy Abraham has excelled himself in Italy and 7/2 for him to score first may appear generous come full time.
