Games are rarely meaningless for Celtic or Rangers but both of their matches tonight are dead rubbers in the Europa League.
The Gers have already secured a place in the next round of the Europa and cannot catch tonight’s opponents Lyon, while Celtic need to settle for a place in the Europa Conference despite a promising campaign. This evening’s game against Ral Betis won’t affect the placings in the group regardless of the outcome.
Both games are probably best left alone on the outright markets but goals have been profitable for punters in Celtic games in Group G. 23 goals have been scored (F10 A 13) in Celtic’s five group matches – more than any other team in the competition – and Over 3.5 Goals has landed in four of those. Over 2.5 Goals pays 8/13 at Bet365 and it’s 6/4 Over 3.5.
Leicester City will be short-handed for their match at Napoli. Seven players didn’t travel with Brendan Rodgers squad in a game where a draw will see them qualify. The Italians, who need to win to leapfrog Leicester could be a bit of value therefore at 6/5. They should also be good for a goal or two. They’ve netted 16 in their last seven (4-1-2-1-4-1-3) and the Foxes haven’t exactly been watertight this season. Two or more Napoli goals is 20/21 with SBK.
West Ham already have top spot sewn up in Group H so David Moyes will no doubt rest several of his players who came from behind to beat Premier League leaders Chelsea at the weekend. Visitors Dinamo Zagreb will be up for the game since they need a point to book 2nd place. The Hammers are 10/11 to win while Dinamo are 14/5.
Spurs match in the Conference has been postponed due to a Covid outbreak and there remains uncertainty as to when or if the game will be played.
Atalanta’s match was called off for very different reasons last night. Heavy snow in Bergamo forced the game to be postponed and will be played tonight at 6pm so here’s last night’s thoughts on the match.
Atalanta are the form team in Serie A and you have to go back to their 3-2 loss at Old Trafford in September for their last defeat. Since then they’ve won six and drawn four, scoring 26 in the process. Things aren’t so rosy for Villarreal who find themselves in the bottom half of La Liga and with just three wins in their last 10 across all competitions. Those wins were a thumping of lowly Victoria CF in the cup, Young Boys at home in Group F and a 1-0 win over second bottom Getafe.
Atalanta look the bet of the night at 8/11 and if their recent scoring record is anything to go by the should net a couple of times on the way to victory. The BetBuilder of an Ataltana to win and score 2+ goals pays 20/21.
