If last week’s FPL score is anything to go by, it appears that we are in for a shaky few weeks in the Premier League.
To make progress in the coming weeks, it appeared that Liverpool players were crucial, while a mix of Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea stars would help our cause.
However, City boss Pep Guardiola continues to play his favourite game of roulette when it comes to team selection, while Chelsea and Tottenham aren’t exactly firing on all cylinders.
To add to that, Spurs currently have eight unnamed players who are struggling with Covid-19, so it appears we must play it safe for a few weeks.
Keeping as many transfers up our sleeves could be the way to go for now, and it seems sensible to stick with three Liverpool players as, without them, we would be in a much worse position.
Last week our score of 48 beat the average by five points, and if you followed our picks, you should have seen a few green arrows in some mini-leagues.
Injuries and Covid-19 cases cost us a few extra points, but there should be no cause for panic, especially with Christmas on the horizon; it makes sense to bide our time.
We will be forced into one change, though, with Ivan Toney’s positive Covid-19 test meaning Watford’s Josh King replaces him.
Goalkeeper – Aaron Ramsdale
Ah, good old Arsenal, eh? Everything looked so rosy when I checked the score at Goodison Park on Monday night. A double-up of Ramsdale and Ben White meant that we were on for 12 points.
Fast forward ten minutes or so, and we picked up a measly three points from the Arsenal duo.
However, Southampton are in town this weekend, and they are not known for their goal-scoring exploits.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men have only scored two or more goals in three of their 15 games so far this season, so we can still have a chance of a clean sheet, with a home win to nil priced at 9/5.
Defenders – Joao Cancelo, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Antonio Rudiger, Ben White
Man City will hopefully get another clean sheet this weekend, and they should have no problems beating Wolves, meaning Cancelo could rack up the points.
Guardiola’s men are 5/8 to win to nil on Saturday, with Wolves failing to score in four of their previous five Premier League games.
Alexander-Arnold remains a key cog in our XI, having scored 58 points in the previous seven gameweeks.
Even though Rudiger has failed to impress in recent weeks, Chelsea should comfortably see off Leeds, with the Whites struggling in front of goal of late.
White remains in our ranks, and as we said earlier, Arsenal should be beating Southampton comfortably if the recent figures are anything to go by.
Midfielders – Mohamed Salah, Emile Smith Rowe, Son Heung-Min, Diogo Jota
Last week’s article was titled, “Who can stop Liverpool”, and thankfully for us, those words ran true.
Not even a spirited Wolves team could stop the Reds from winning in the dying seconds, helping us pick up 24 points from our Liverpool stars.
Salah, as per usual, was our captain and his 12 points helped our cause, while Jota remains one of the best players to own at present, having scored 33 points in five weeks.
Tottenham star Son scored 13 for us against Norwich, and with a trip to Brighton on the agenda, he will remain in our team once again.
The South Korean seems to have found his feet under Antonio Conte, and he seems to be the better option, rather than spending much more on Harry Kane.
The official Fantasy Premier League website gives Smith Rowe a 75% chance of featuring against Southampton, and that’s a chance we are willing to take, with very few midfielders outperforming him in his price bracket.
Forwards – Michail Antonio, Josh King
King has had a cracking season so far for Watford, and he has 54 points to his name at present.
The former Bournemouth striker seems to be Claudio Ranieri’s primary choice, and he is also on penalties. He’s also cheaper than Toney, helping us bank some much-needed funds for the winter period.
King is 12/5 to score anytime during Friday’s clash with Brentford, and he will hopefully complement Michail Antonio in our team.
Every time we seem ready to sell Antonio, the Jamaica international reels us back in with a scoring return. An assist against Chelsea means he keeps his place, and West Ham’s fixtures are about to become easier, so it might be time to hang in there with the Hammers powerhouse.
Captain – Mohamed Salah
