MansionBet are proud to be supporting this afternoon’s jumps card from Sedgefield, as title sponsors of five races on the card.
Racing is between 12.40pm-3.15pm and conditions are set to be ‘Good’. You can watch all the action via live streaming when logged into MansionBet – alongside all today’s UK and Irish racing – and our tipster has a race-by-race look ahead to Tuesday’s Sedgefield card.
12.40 – Cazoo ‘National Hunt’ Auction Maiden Hurdle (2m4f)
On experience Kavanaghs Cross is the one to beat, with Iain Jardine’s charge having made the frame in four hurdles starts since arriving from Ireland in the summer. His best form comes at this 2m4f trip and he’s got strong claims, though he is 0-9 at this point over timber. ASK THE DOC was fourth in a Tipperary bumper back in March and looks a threat now on rules bow having joined Oliver Greenall.
Selection: Ask The Doc @ 9/4
1.10 – Bet 10 Get 20 With MansionBet Handicap Chase (3m2½f)
Last-time-out winners KAPHUMOR and Regaby appear the pair most likely to feature heavily. Both were front-runners last time and preference is for Sue Smith’s 5YO who won fairly much as he pleased on yard bow at Hexham 18 days ago. The extra two furlongs shouldn’t inconvenience him and he’s quite lightly-raced so should have more to offer.
Selection: Kaphumor @ 1/1
1.45 – MansionBet Faller Insurance Handicap Chase (2m1f)
Obey The Rules scored at Hereford early this month and has since finished runner-up at Ludlow under a penalty. He’s up another 2lb here and should be involved again. SIX ONE NINE may have needed last month’s run at Kelso and with a win and a second from his two starts at this venue earlier in the year, there’s a good chance he relishes the return to Sedgefield.
Selection: Six One Nine @ 3/1
2.15 – Follow MansionBetRace On Twitter ‘Hands And Heels’ Handicap Hurdle (Conditional And Amateur Jockeys, 2m1f)
Oasis Prince shaped quite well in fifth over C&D 12 days ago and isn’t discounted now, with a new tongue-tie fitted to try and aid his cause, but perhaps COUP DE GOLD can build on his runner-up effort over 2m4f here a week previous to that. He split a pair of subsequent winners in that contest and should be challenging again, despite some concerns over this drop in distance.
Selection: Coup De Gold @ 7/1
2.45 – Bank A Winner With MansionBet Novices’ Handicap Chase (2m3f)
Aire Valley Lad shaped with promise when fourth around here on chasing bow in May, but neither run since has matched that and he needs to do more.
The returning Lady Chuffnell is respected too but DALKINGSTOWN gets the nod for Peter & Sean Bowen. He found 2m a tad sharp at Ffos Las this month on his second chasing attempt but there were positives in that run and this longer trip appears to be another one now.
Selection: Dalkingstown @ 7/2
3.15 – MansionBet Best Odds Guaranteed Novices’ Hurdle (2m1f)
Irish raider Kendancer failed to live up to his billing in a similar C&D event 12 days ago, but trainer Charles Byrnes returns for another crack with him now. He is one to note but FINDTHETIME is preferred for Nicky Richards.
He was only a remote third on hurdles bow at Perth in September but he got much closer when second at Carlisle (2m1f, good) last month and should be right there this time under Brian Hughes – the former champion jockey fresh from completing his fastest ever century at Ayr on Monday.
Selection: Findthetime @ 5/4
