There are just two Premier League fixtures on Sunday but both, at the Etihad Stadium and the Tottenham Stadium, should provide us with goals.
The 2pm kick-off is the current champions Manchester City playing host to Everton, while the 4:30pm match sees Tottenham face Leeds United in Antonio Conte’s first Premier League home game in charge of Spurs.
City Look To Put More Pressure on Everton
Two teams in contrasting form meet in Manchester, with Pep Guardiola’s side having lost just one of their last ten Premier League games while Everton are on a run of just one win in seven league matches.
The head-to-head stats don’t make good reading either for the Toffees, who have failed to beat City in any of their last eight meetings and are as big as 12/1 to win on Sunday.
In fact, Everton have lost on their last three trips to the Etihad and conceded 10 times in that run of games, with the hosts securing a 5-0 victory in this fixture back in May. A repeat scoreline can be backed at 17/1.
Kevin de Bruyne scored the first goal that day, but the visitors won’t be facing the Belgian this time around after he tested positive for Covid.
City are also set to be without Jack Grealish due to injury, but Guardiola does welcome defender Aymeric Laporte back to the squad after suspension.
Rafael Benitez has had his plans badly hampered by injuries in recent weeks and Everton are once again without Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucoure. Tom Davies also misses out with a knee problem, while Mason Holgate starts a three-match ban.
There has been just one goalless draw in the last 38 meetings between the sides and over 2.5 goals on Sunday can be backed at 18/5.
Spurs to Have Leeds on the Back Foot
Tottenham have collected a win and a draw in Conte’s first two games and the Italian already looks to make changes to an under-performing squad.
The 0-0 draw at Everton before the international break highlighted the defensive work that the new manager has done and a more organised Spurs is the least the fans will expect.
It’s six games in all competitions since Harry Kane last got on the scoresheet for his club, but he scored in this fixture last season and, following back-to-back hat-tricks for England, is 13/5 to score first on Sunday.
Leeds have certainly missed Patrick Bamford, but it’s defensively where their main issues have been with Marcelo Bielsa’s men keeping just one clean sheet in the league so far this term and currently have a -7 goal difference.
Spurs will be without Cristian Romero due to a hamstring injury, while Oliver Skipp is suspended after picking up five yellow cards this season.
Although Bamford and Luke Ayling are still sidelined, Leeds have been boosted by the new that both Junior Firpo and Jamie Shackleton are back in contention.
Brazilian Raphinha is looking to score in three consecutive Premier League games and the former Rennes man can be backed at 3/1 to score at anytime on Sunday.
