IT was a case of ‘job done’ for Engand and Scotland on Friday as they both secured the wins needed to take a step closer to Qatar 2022.
Barring a catastrophe against San Marino, England booked their place in the finals with a resounding 5-0 win over Albania while Scotland ensured their participation in the play-offs, with a game to spare, thanks to a 2-0 win in Moldova.
Tonight the pressure is off Wales who have already secured a play-off spot thanks to their Nations League exploits but they’ll be pushing to finish second in Group E which could see them seeded in the draw.
At 1/5 to win they’re one of several short-priced nations on Saturday in another round of mis-matched fixtures which sees the likes of Turkey (1/100), Belgium (1/25) and France (1/20) at ridiculously short prices. Each should secure comfortable wins and a Treble of Over 2.5 Goals in each of those matches pays a tad over 9/10 at Bet365.
Domestically there’s little to choose from on Saturday but Exeter (8/11) at home to Oldham should be a solid home win while Walsall (31/20) could beat the odds against Harrogate. Top of the table Forest Green handed the Saddlers their first defeat in nine in the EFL Cup in midweek and look overpriced against a Harrogate side who’s results have dipped in recent weeks.
After a disasterous start to the season Dunfermline have appointed John Hughes as their new boss following the departure of Peter Grant. Yogi’s first match is at Inverness for whom he secured their highest ever league finish and the dizzy heights of European football so they’ll know all about the impact their former gaffer can have at East End Park.
The Pars are long overdue a win and under Hughes it won’t be too far away. It may not come against the in-form Highlanders but there will be worse 9/2 shots on today’s coupon.
Tommy Wright’s Kilmarnock were reminded just how tough it will be to escape the Championship last week when Partick Thistle left Rugby Park with all three points. Today they’ve a chance to get things back on track with a win at Morton.
The hosts have drawn five of their last seven and have yet to win a league game in six at Cappielow. Killie on the other hand are unbeaten away from home and should bounce back with a win at 19/20.
