Sunday arguably has the edge on the fixture front but the game of the weekend comes on Saturday teatime when two sides chasing Bayern Munich go head-to-head.
Leipzig to Exploit Dortmund Injury Issues
Injuries have not been kind to Borussia Dortmund and they are still without Raphael Guerreiro and more crucially, Erling Haaland.
Saturday sees Der BVB head east to Leipzig, who drew 2-2 with Paris Saint-Germain in the week and have won their last three league home games at an aggregate of 13-1.
Another home win here is 20/21 and is worth exploring when you realise Dortmund went down 3-1 at home to Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Marco Rose has explored several options in a bid to find a solution to Haaland’s absence and to relative success. However, Dortmund’s fixture list has been sympathetic and they were really exposed by the superior quality of Ajax, who made the most of Mats Hummels’ dismissal after 29 minutes.
Hummels will be available but the dynamic nature of the Leipzig attack does not play to his strengths.
Although not always in the team, Dani Olmo is a real talent. The Spaniard also scored in both meetings last term and could be one to watch at 16/5 in the anytime market.
Expect Olympiastadion Excitement
Bayer Leverkusen sit fourth in the Bundesliga but are five points behind Freiburg directly above them and have taken just a point from their last three league games.
They did, though, stop the rot somewhat with a 4-0 Europa League win over Real Betis on Thursday and head to Hertha Berlin on Sunday.
Die Alte Dame have themselves endured a mixed campaign, sitting 12th as of writing, but saw a three-game winning run ended by last Friday’s 2-0 victory at Hoffenheim.
Pal Dardai’s side have won two of their last three home matches and three of their four home matches this term have featured a ‘Yes’ on both teams to score, which chimes in at 20/33.
Hertha have won their last two meetings in the capital and another home success is a handy 12/5 but this has the feel of an open match. After Leverkusen’s midweek heroics over 3.5 goals in the game is hard to ignore at 9/5.
Frankfurt Expected to Boost Survival Hopes
Finally, to matters at the bottom of the table where 18th-placed Greuther Furth host Eintracht Frankfurt, currently 15th.
Greuther have picked up just a point since winning promotion to the Bundesliga, with that solitary game coming back in August.
Eintracht’s issue has been that they draw too often, doing so six times in their 10 league matches this term.
They most recently beat Olympiakos 2-1 in the Europa League and have now won three of their last four on the road in all competitions, including a 2-1 success at Bayern Munich.
A win for Die Adler is 10/11 and maybe pushing to that result and over 2.5 goals in the game could pay off. Greuther’s poor run has not been without excitement, with over 3.5 goals coming in four of their last five Bundesliga outings. Frankfurt to win and over 2.5 goals is 18/5 and looks a decent price.
