Defending champions DWG KIA will be looking to go back-to-back when they take on EDward Gaming this Saturday in the 2021 LoL World Championship grand final.
DWG KIA did not lose a single game until their semi-final bout with T1 (3-2). Regardless of the three-time champions spoiling their perfect run, Heo “ShowMaker” Su and his crew have looked incredible at this tournament.
EDward Gaming have had a bit more trouble reaching the big stage, and while they have played well, there is a good reason why DWG KIA are priced as $1.27 favourites. The Koreans stomped MAD Lions and defeated against T1, who won against EDG in the group stage. So if DWG KIA beat T1, they will likely do well against a team that lost to T1 just a couple of weeks prior.
On a more positive note, EDward have the skill needed to beat DWG KIA. But they will have to come up with creative drafts to catch the defending champions off guard, which might be easier said than done.
EDward Gaming have proven to be very inflexible with their champion pool – namely their jungler Zhao “Jiejie” Li-Jie, who was on Jarvan IV duty for the entire series against Gen.G. On the other side, EDward will have to take Lee Sin away from Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu and LeBlanc from ShowMaker, leaving them with only one ban in the first phase.
As the top LoL betting sites are not offering much value on the favourites at the moneyline, we are taking some risk and picking a 3-1 correct score to boost the price. Although there’s a good chance we’re in for another 3-0 LoL Worlds final, we have faith in EDG’s ADC Park “Viper” Do-hyeon to help his team win one map.
