Forget Super Sunday, for this tiny little corner of the internet it’s a Magical Monday at MFT.
Today’s the day that Clydebank Football Club return to the big time, live on national television and eyeing a Scottish Cup upset.
And of course, it’s a day that our very own Mr Fixit would have been absolutely bursting with pride, his beloved Bankies, back in the spotlight and the talk of the town.
Paul followed his local team since he was schooboy, from Troon to Tranent and everywhere inbetween. He cut holidays short, negotiated late starts at work and dragged poor Millie, “the dug”, to matches in all weathers.
So it’s with a huge amount of sadness we think of our great friend missing out on a huge occasion for his club but we’ll raise a glass to Paul, and his team, and hope for a little bit of magic at Holm Park tonight.
As for the game itself, the Bankies won’t fear the visit of League Two side Elgin City. They’re pushing for promotion in the West of Scotland Football League (sixth tier in Scottish football) sitting third behind Auchinleck and Pollok. They thumped Dalkieth 7-0 in the previous round and found out earlier that the prospect of a home match against League One Clyde awaits the winner of this tie.
Opponents Elgin sit second bottom of League Two (fourth tier in Scottish football) with just two wins from 10 but the bookies make them clear favourites at 2/7 to win, whilst the ‘Paper Hankies’ are 11/2 (Bet365) to pull off the upset.
Tickets were sold out weeks ago and local rumours suggest that there were even some forgeries floating around, such is the demand for the fans to see Clydebank topple the SPFL club. If the crowd can prove to be an extra man and if you believe in the power of positive thinking then 11/2 has to be worth a punt. We just know Paul would’ve had a quid on it.

Golf Tips
Shoutout to The Caddy! He’s so good that we’re almost disappointed when it’s ONLY his NAP picks that win! There weren’t any returns in the outright tips this weekend but his remarkably consistent run of winning NAPs continued with success in both the European and PGA tours.
Keep an eye out for more tips fom The Caddy this week.
