7.16pm Perry Barr – Arena Racing Company St Leger 1st Semi-final
Mark Wallis has a strong hand in this year’s St Leger with four entries across the three semi-finals. His best chance of winning the competition could come through Blueberry Bullet, who is in the opening heat and have been drawn in trap three.
She has really excelled since stepping up to this 710m trip. In her last two appearances, she has got out well from the boxes and been up with the early pace. Her stamina has held up well in the closing stages.
There is a good chance Blueberry Bullet will lead them up in this race from trap three as there does not look to be much pace in the contest. This bitch will take some beating as this could be the first of two victories.
Selection: Trap 3 Blueberry Bullet
8.21pm Perry Barr – Arena Racing Company St Leger 2nd Semi-final
Space Jet had to settle for second place in her heat last week to qualify for this semi-final. She found traffic on a couple of occasions in that race but ran on well to finish runner up.
Matt Dartnall’s runner will be doing her best work on the final lap of this 710m race. As long as she is sat handy heading into the last lap, she will have an excellent chance of taking the top honours.
Despite the trouble last time, she clocked the second-fastest time of all the runners in this race. The bitch was also in excellent form earlier this summer, winning open races at Nottingham and Central Park, so there is a lot to like about her chances.
Selection: Trap 3 Space Jet
9.26pm Perry Barr – Arena Racing Company St Leger 3rd Semi-final
A time of 42.97 from Bombardier ensured he made it through to this third semi-final in style. Just like in his opening heat, he blew his rivals away, and as a result, he is the favourite in the outright market for this competition.
The Ballymac Matt dog remains open to improvement, so there could be much to come from him, which is bad news for the rest of the competition. He should be a more backable price than he has gone off at on his last two outings.
The chief threat to Bombardier here will come from Savana Volcano from trap six. She is likely to have it all to do on the final lap in her pursuit of Bombardier and may have to settle for second place behind him.
Selection: Trap 2 Bombardier
