PSG were the major coupon-busters on Wednesday night as Mbappe, Neymar, Messi and Co. – at 2/9! – failed to put away Club Brugge in Group A.
But we enjoyed a second comfortable Super Single win in as many days thanks to Fulham’s 4-1 win over Birmingham at 6/5. Greg MacLean also delivered a nice 31/25 Bet of the Day Double in the Champions League and he has another lined in the Europa League on Thursday, including one at the match he’ll be attending himself at Ibrox.
The introduction of the Europa Conference League has opened the door to European football for some of the continent’s smaller clubs but it makes for a crazy Thursday night with no fewer that 25 matches cross Europe from Azerbaijan to Zagreb and just about everywhere in between. We’ve got almost half of them covered for you below so a huge thanks to our team who put the hours in to give you some insight in to each match.
Celtic travel to Seville for the first time since their UEFA Cup Final appearance in the city back in 2003. Real Betis are the opponents and it could be tough night for the Hoops who will be without captain Callum McGregor, Leil Abada and new cult hero Kyogo Furahashi.
Betis sit 9th in La Liga but will provide Celtic’s toughest test to date under Ange Postecoglou, in the near 30 degree Andalucian heat. The Bhoys have won just one of their last nine games away from home and it’s difficult to make a case for a win tonight at 5/1 (SBK). Instead, the Spaniards look good acca material at 13/20 (Bet365) or add in two or more goals for the home side to that to 20/21 on a BetBuilder.
Back in Glasgow it should be a cracker at Ibrox between Rangers and Lyon. A feature of the Gers Europa League matches season was the number of goals scored. Despite a watertight defence domestically Steven Gerrard’s side were exposed on a few occasions in Europe and there should be goals in this one.
The bookies rate Over 2.5 Goals at 10/11 which is worth taking on.
Leicester City v Napoli has a Champions League feel to it and it should be a brilliant night at the King Power Stadium. The Italians have started the season with three wins including a 2-1 win over Juventus at the weekend so are in good shape especially since Insigne looks to have shaken off a knock.
This could go either way but the bookies make the Foxes favourites at 13/10 while Napoli are 21/10.
West Ham could be a good bet in Zagreb where they play a Dinamo side who were denied a Champions League slot by Molodovan minnows Sheriff Tiraspol, failing to make a dent at home, in their 3-0 first leg defeat. That doesn’t bode well for the Croatian champions despite them sitting atop the domestic table.
The Hammers can be backed at 6/5 to mark their return to European football with a win.
Elsewhere in the Europa, Ludogorets could get some joy away to Midjtylland. The Bulgarian champions narrowly missed on Champions League football, losing out to Malmo 3-2 on aggregate. Prior to that they eased past Greek, Slovenian and Belarusian opposition and have won five out of five so far in the league. They look too big at 10/3 or can be backed Doubla Chance at 10/11.
