It’s the final day of York’s Ebor Festival but I am over in France this afternoon to ride Aristia at Deauville.
3:00 – City Of York Stakes
If I could ride any of these, I would ride SPACE BLUES. I thought he shaped with plenty of promise in the Group 2 Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, on what was his first run back in a long time. He’s a Group 1 horse and should prove very hard to beat. The main danger would be Primo Bacio who was impressive here at York earlier in the season.
Latest Odds for the City of York Stakes:
Horses | Current Odds |
Space Blues | 6/5 |
Primo Bacio | 5/2 |

3:35 – Ebor Handicap
The Ebor is always one of the most competitive handicaps run anywhere in the world and this year’s renewal looks no different! William Haggas is a proud Yorkshireman who tends to target a lot of his horses at York. He has four runners in the field so has a very strong hand. HAMISH is the pick of Tom Marquand. He’s a very lightly raced colt who hasn’t been seen on the track since 2020 but he is 2 out of 2 at York which is crucial form. He goes well fresh and will love the fast ground, so he’d be my tentative selection.

4:00 Aristia
ARISTIA gave me narrow-listed race success up at York last month when getting the better of Alpine Star. She showed such a willing attitude that day and deserves a shot at this Group 2 prize. I’m hoping the ground continues to dry out as she wouldn’t want it too soft. Jim Crowley is missing a big day at York to ride Zeyaadah for Shadwell so that is notable, and she could be the one to beat.
(Check out all the racing from Deauville here.)
Stay safe,
Hayley!
