Basel vs Hammarby
🇪🇺 UEFA Conference League
⏰ Thursday 19th August, 18:30
Swiss side Basel host Swedish side Hammarby in the Conference League playoff at St. Jakob-Park. Both sides have already progressed through two rounds and know a victory in this tie will see them reaching the group stages.
Basel thumped lower league side FC Schönenwerd-Niedergösgen 0-7 at the weekend in the cup. That now means Basel have started this season winning all 8 games, scoring an incredible 31 goals. Half of those victories have came in this competition as they defeated Partizani Tirana 5-0 on aggregate before defeating Hungarian side Ujpest 6-1 on aggregate. Basel have won their 4 competitive home games this season, scoring 18 times.
Hammarby come into this off the back of a 0-2 at home to Elfsborg in the Allsvenskan at the weekend. That came after defeating Serbian side Cukaricki 6-4 on aggregate, despite losing the away leg 3-1. Hammarby have won only 3 of their 9 competitive away games this season, losing 4 and conceding a minimum of 2 goals in all of those defeats.
Feyenoord vs Elfsborg

Dutch giants Feyenoord also host a Swedish side in the form of Elfsborg in the Conference League playoff at De Kuip. Both sides have also already progressed through two rounds and will be eyeing the group stages.
Feyenoord kicked off their Eredivisie campaign at the weekend recording an impressive 0-4 win away to Willem II. Since a 0-0 in their first competitive game of the Season away to Drita, Feyenoord have gone on to win their next four competitive games by an aggregate score of 13-2. After scraping past Luxembourg side Drita 3-2 on aggregate, Feyenoord showed their class by comfortably defeating Swiss side Luzern 6-0 on aggregate, winning both matches 3-0.
As mentioned above, Elfsborg defeated Hammarby 0-2 in the Allsvenskan at the weekend. The Swedes swept aside Moldovan minnows Milsami 9-0 on aggregate before triumphing over Bosnian side Velez 5-2 on aggregate. Elfsborg sit 4th in the Allsvenskan but have been defeated by all three sides who sit above them.
Bet of the Day
Basel have started the season in election form and have been banging the goals in for fun. I can see them scoring at least two goals here and taking a first leg lead to Sweden next week. Feyenoord are another side that have started the season strongly and they too are banging the goals in. Elfsborg sailed through the previous two rounds but this will be a huge step up in class for the Swedes in Rotterdam.
- Basel to win & over 1.5 goals
- Feyenoord to win
- Double Pays 7/5 (Betway/Boyle Sports)
