Goals were in short supply in the Football League on Tuesday. Only nine games of 28 across the three divisions saw Over 2.5 goals scored and exactly half saw Both Teams Score, making it a tough night for punters.
Portsmouth scored early to land the 4/5 Super Single and another match that didn’t disappoint was the German Super Cup which was by Bayern Munich who laid down a marker by beating Borussia Dortmund 3-1. SlipsTips help himself to yet another winner thanks to the cards and corners in the match.
On Wednesday all eyes will be on Celtic Park as the Hoops look to take a first leg lead in their tie with AZ Alkmaar. Ange Postecoglou’s side look envigorated after a slow start to the season that saw them exit the Champions League to Midtjylland and suffer defeat in their opening league match at Hearts.
But they’ve subsequently won four on the bounce, scoring 16 goals in the process and generally looking a completely different team. AZ will test their new found mettle although the Dutch side are going through some troubles of their own currently.
Four key player from the squad that secured 3rd place in last season’s Eredivise have departed including top scorer Myron Boadu. Club captain Teun Koopmeiners traveled with the squad despite missing out on AZ’s opening day defeat to Waalwijk amid speculation he too is on the verge of departing.
It all points to a great opportunity for the Bhoys to steal a march in this tie and 13/10 on the home win looks pretty generous. Postecoglou has his team on it from the very first whistle with a high energy press and an almost frantic desire to get the ball forward so a Celtic lead at half-time also appeals at 15/8 and that has landed in their last four.
Elsewhere in Europe there’s a belter of a tie between two former European Champions when PSV Eindhoven visit Benfica. Tolu is in the hotseat for us for that one and he thinks there could be goals in Lisbon.
There’s a handful of matches in the Championship on Wednesday night too. Middlesbrough and QPR put their unbeaten starts to the season on the line at the Riverside. Rangers will have been pleased with their start to the campaign and impressed in their 3-0 win at Hull City on Saturday. Boro were exposed in last midweek’s defeat at Blackpool in the EFL Cup but they bounced back to win at the weekend. Both teams look reasonably well matched so BTTS could be the play here at 5/6.
The night’s live match comes from The Hawthorns where promotion hopefuls West Brom and Sheffield United clash. A lack of goals still looks to be blunting the Blades who’ve failed to score in their first two league matches and managed just one against League Two Carlisle. Finding the net hasn’t been an issue for the Baggies though, who have scored five in two so far, which makes the 21/20 on the home win appealling.
