An Incredible week on the Knavesmire is nearly upon us and we will have top class racing every day, starting off with the Group 1 Juddmonte International Stakes on Day 1.
York Racecourse is one of the nicest courses to visit in the UK and with a full house expected everyday we look ahead to what horses you should be backing over the week to pay for the champagne.
Ebor Festival Day 1 Insights
The highlight on Day 1 is the Juddmonte International Stakes, where unfortunately Aidan O’Brien was forced to pull the ante-post favourite out of race due to a slight setback. Sir Mark’s Basilica’s absence now gives the race a more open look to it with Mishriff and Love battling for favouritism at the top of the market.
The unbeaten Dubawi Legend (9/4) goes in the Tattersalls Acomb Stakes at 2:25, he was very impressive on his debut at Doncaster and this step up to Group 3 class should be no problem and I see him winning this race very comfortably.
Locally based trainer Tony Coyle runs Ey Up It’s Maggie (8/1) in the 4:45 on Day 1 of the Welcome to York Ebor Festival and he has told me “Maggie has been in fantastic form at home and a big run is expected, the more rain we get between now and Wednesday the better, we will be there cheering her on”
